This is a part-time, hourly position within Grand Valley’s development communications team. Starting at 5-10 hours a week – with the potential to scale up – the right person will have a good working knowledge of current design best-practice in order to assist in creating both print and digital communication projects. This position can be remote and has flexible working hours. Hourly salary is $30-$40 per hour, commensurate with experience
Primary Duties
Assist with the design for assigned University Development print materials, web sites, social media, and digital communications including emails, presentations, and proposals.
Work with the communications team to increase the effectiveness of fundraising appeals and donor relations efforts to enhance both the cultivation and retention of donors, including alumni.
When needed, serve as a liaison with printers to secure estimates, identify specifications, review quality, and monitor costs.
Participate in the development of overall communication and giving strategies where mass communications can enhance giving and retention.
Perform other duties as required/assigned by leadership.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Bachelor’s degree.
Minimum of three to five (3-5) years of experience in graphic design in digital, print, video, and large-scale event communications.
Minimum of three to five (3-5) years of experience designing within a content management system and email distribution system comparable to that used by GVSU.
Minimum of three to five (3-5) years of experience designing for large screen program productions for events.
Knowledge of HTML coding and experience using it within digital design.
Expert level experience with Adobe suite creative products.

Ability to prioritize projects, meet deadlines, manage several projects simultaneously, and work well under pressure.
Preferred Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Degree in graphic design.
Experience in higher education, especially in a communications function that serves multiple departments and/or clients.
Understanding of fundraising basics.
Experience in fundraising and stewardship communications.
