The Role
The Graphic Designer position is on the Brand Innovation team within the Creative Department. As a Graphic Designer, you will directly collaborate with the marketing department, product development, copywriters, and art directors to craft compelling creative strategies, concepts, activations and designs. You will be responsible for assisting the Brand Innovation Lead in ideating, art directing and producing impactful creative content. You will maintain and evolve every Congo Brand as well as differentiate any new product innovation. You must be a self-motivated team-player, able to seamlessly handle multiple projects simultaneously, comfortable with ambiguity, and flexible when confronted with design & business challenges.
The Responsibilities
- Conceptualization and Design: Collaborate closely with the Brand Innovation team to conceptualize and develop creative strategies that elevate the brand's visual identity. Generate innovative ideas and translate them into compelling visual designs across various mediums.
- Illustration Expertise: Utilize strong illustration skills to create unique and engaging visuals that resonate with the brand's ethos and target audience. Infuse illustrations into marketing materials, packaging designs, and branding elements to enhance storytelling and brand recognition.
- CPG Packaging Design: Drive the packaging design process from concept to execution, leveraging a deep understanding of CPG packaging trends, materials, and structural considerations. Develop packaging solutions that captivate consumers, optimize shelf presence, and reinforce brand messaging.
- Brand Development and Consistency: Maintain and evolve the brand's visual language and guidelines. Ensure consistency and alignment across all design assets, fostering a cohesive brand experience across touchpoints.
- Photo Shoot Concepting and Collaboration: Contribute creative concepts and collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to plan and execute photo shoots. Provide design direction and support to bring the brand's vision to life through captivating visual imagery.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work collaboratively with marketing, product development, and other teams to understand project goals and effectively translate them into visually stunning designs. Communicate design rationale and concepts clearly and persuasively.
- Stay Current: Keep abreast of design trends, technological advancements, and industry best practices. Stay updated on competitor branding & design strategies to identify opportunities for differentiation. Apply new insights and innovations to continuously improve design output and maintain a competitive edge.
Requirements
- 2-4 years of design experience required.
- Bachelor’s Degree required.
- A standout portfolio highlighting expertise in illustration, branding, and packaging design within the consumer goods industry.
- Ability to work as a team member in a collaborative group environment or alone.
- Ability to interpret and follow written instructions and/or oral directions.
- Effective oral, written, and electronic communication skills.
- Demonstrated ability to conceptualize and execute designs for photo shoots, understanding composition, lighting, and visual storytelling.
- Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, etc.) and other relevant design software.
- Proficiency in Procreate or similar sketching technology preferred
- Proficiency in Adobe Stager, Adobe Dimension or similar 3D visualization software, preferred
- Exceptional creativity, coupled with strong problem-solving skills and the ability to communicate complex ideas visually.
- A keen eye for detail, dedication to quality, and a passion for delivering exceptional design solutions.
- A working knowledge and experience with Microsoft Office software: Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
