POSITION SUMMARY: It is the primary responsibility of the Food Runner to serve guests while providing courteous and prompt tableside service to all guests. The FOOD RUNNER must be able to describe all dishes brought to the dining room in a detailed manner and answer pertinent questions. All duties are to be performed in accordance with departmental and property policies, practices, and procedures, as well as Oscar’s Steakhouse Standard.
TOP 5 FUNCTIONS
- Deliver all food to dining room tables from kitchen.
- Checks that each table is marked with proper silverware upon delivery and mark tables when needed.
- Describe food upon placement on the table, answering any questions pertaining to the dishes
- Stock Expo line prior to service and maintain stock throughout service with side plates, condiments, ramekins, plate wipes, silverware, etc.
- Communicate with Chef, Food Servers, Bus Persons, and in general between the dining room and the kitchen.
ADDITIONAL DUTIES:
- Has complete knowledge of all products and specifications.
- Greets guests warmly with a smile, making eye contact, and using the guests name whenever possible.
- Consistently follow sequence of service utilizing all proper procedures standardized by the room management.
- Expedite food from the kitchen to the tables as dictated by sequence of service and by the Chef or kitchen expeditor.
- Describe food upon placement on the table, answering any questions pertaining to the dishes.
- Always communicates with the Chef or kitchen expeditor to ensure that food goes to the correct table and position.
- Is aware of all upcoming orders.
- Is aware of status of tables expecting food.
- Always uses position numbers.
- Performs assigned opening and closing side-work.
- Communicates the needs of the guests to kitchen and management. Informs management of guests’ reactions and comments. Assists management as needed to ensure smooth operation and quality service.
- Helps promote a safe and clean environment for guests and co-worker.
- Checks that each table is marked with proper silverware upon delivery and marking when needed.
- Keeps expo stations stocked throughout shift.
- Assists in guest services as requested by the Chef and management.
- Follows and executes Oscar’s and Plaza Hotel Casino core service standards as outlined in training.
- Follow all procedures and policies set forth by the company, division and department.
- Follow all health and safety regulations.
- Performs all other job related duties as requested.

Requirements:EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:
Required:
- Must be at least 21 years of age
- High school diploma or General Equivalency Diploma (GED) required
- At least 2 year of previous experience working in a similar resort setting
- At least 1 year of previous Food and Beverage experience in a fast-paced environment with food service experience
- General knowledge of wine and spirits
- Must be able to read, write, speak and understand English
- Ability to read and comprehend instructions and information
- Must possess excellent customer service/communication skills
- Available to work required schedule which may include nights, weekends, holidays and overtime as needed
- Must be able to maintain a neat, professional, well-groomed appearance and uphold company appearance/dress standards
- Be able to stand on their feet for extended hours at a time
- Ability to meet company's production and quality standards
- Work as a team, assisting all guests’ and employees’ needs and inquiries.
- Create and maintain a sense of urgency
- Ability to create and maintain service rapport through the Corporate philosophy

Preferred:
