The City of Chandler Development Services Department is currently seeking qualified individuals interested in joining our team as a GIS Senior Specialist. This is a full-time, non-exempt position with benefits. This position will work a Monday - Friday 8am - 5pm schedule.

Who we are
The City of Chandler Development Services team, consisting of 83 positions, provides sound land use planning strategies, responsible design development standards, and high quality, safety compliant infrastructure in all areas of Development Services, including planning, GIS, building safety, development engineering, telecommunications and utility franchise, City fiber, transportation engineering, and customer service and permits.

Who we are looking for
Our new team member will have a passion for customer service, teamwork, and collaboration. We are looking for someone with experience in reading civil construction plans and creating / updating / maintaining utility networks in GIS.
Essential Functions:
- Creates and updates maps, graphs, and tables.
- Performs analysis and generates reports.
- Develops and maintains GIS data; ensures the integrity and accuracy of data.
- Assists in the maintenance of Land Information Systems (LIS) data layers; ensure streets, subdivisions, developments, and capital improvement projects are accurately recorded and maintained within departmental and City-wide maps.
- Creates and updates utility infrastructure features into GIS system.
- Provides instruction and training for GIS end users, as needed.
- Documents GIS processes for ease of use and understanding.
- Troubleshoots the City's GIS related hardware and software issues.
- Tests new software upgrades and applications.
- Responds to internal and external inquiries.
- Reads and interprets engineering and building construction drawings, site plans and plats.
- Reviews residential and commercial site plans and plats for establishing and assigning block numbers, addresses, and street names; provides information to developers and other stakeholders.
- Ensures compliance with the Street Naming and Addressing Procedures and as-built records management practices.
- Provides backup support for other staff within the same classification or below.
- Associate degree or equivalent technical coursework in GIS, mapping or drafting, computer programming or related fields; and
- Three (3) to five (5) years' experience in ArcGIS, computer mapping or drafting, and Global Positioning Systems; and
- Valid Arizona Driver's License with acceptable driving record; or
- Any equivalent combination of experience and training which provides the knowledge and abilities necessary to perform the work.
- Experience in processing wet utility networks in ArcGIS
- Ability to read and interpret civil construction as-builts
- Experience with Asset Management systems
The City of Chandler fingerprints all applicants, 18 years of age and older, selected for hire to evaluate the fitness of prospective employees.
The position available is a full-time position and is subject to a six (6) month probationary period. A register of qualified candidates will be active for four (4) months should another position become available.
