Position Overview:
The Canvasser Lead will play a pivotal role in managing and coordinating canvassing activities. Reporting directly to the Program Manager, the Canvasser Lead is responsible for overseeing and guiding a team of canvassers, utilizing tools like MiniVan, and leveraging prior canvassing experience to achieve campaign goals.
Responsibilities and Duties:
- Manage and coordinate a team of canvassers to ensure effective execution of grassroots political campaigns.
- Engage in door-to-door canvassing activities to mobilize voters, distribute election materials, and educate constituents on Care in Action's endorsed candidates, adhering to COVID-19 safety protocols.
- Accurately input data and oversee the completion of canvassing shifts on a regular basis, ensuring data integrity and usefulness for campaign strategies.
- Check in regularly with the Program Manager about team progress and work towards goals.
- Maintain daily communication with canvassers regarding their shifts, availability, and any updates.
- Represent the organization and its priorities professionally and effectively to the public.
Qualifications and Experience:
- At least 1-2 cycles of experience canvassing, at least 1 cycle leading a team of canvassers preferred.
- Experience using miniVan, must have access to a smartphone and computer with reliable internet access.
- Must have access to a car with valid car insurance.
- Willingness to be trained on Care in Action canvasser protocols, policy priorities, endorsed candidates, and voter education.
- Ability to engage with voters from diverse backgrounds and build meaningful connections.
- Willingness to canvass in Macon-Bibb and other areas as assigned.
- Ability to work well independently towards team goals, coupled with strong interpersonal skills and an outgoing personality.
- Goal-oriented, problem solver, punctual, organized, positive attitude, and alignment with the mission and vision of Care in Action.
- Proficiency in a language other than English is a plus.
