Job description

About Us:

Architectural Steel & Aluminum Products (“ASAP”) is built on 40+ years of experience in the Metal Fabrication industry. Our storied past and present celebrates the work of commercial builders, architects, general contractors, and glaziers. As we look ahead, ASAP aspires to evolve by manufacturing solutions for select OEMs and contribute to a variety of sectors. That said, applications for commercial development (e.g. curtain wall) and public infrastructure will always thrive here at ASAP.

Our roots are proudly in Georgia, but our products and services have reached near and far. We strive to embrace innovation while still preserving our craft. ASAP's signature stamp of top workmanship can be found on towering skyscrapers, schools & university campuses, manufacturing plants, high footfall shopping centers, large storage / warehouse facilities, residential / community spaces, sporting arenas visited by millions of devoted fans, and some of the most well-known structures across the country.

The team at ASAP operates on five pillars: Quality, Integrity, Punctuality, Cost Efficiency, and Unparalleled Service. No job is too big or too small. Every client receives equal care, top quality products with uncompromising attention to detail, and ongoing support. As a result, relationships with some of our accounts span decades and many trust / depend on us every day to get the job done.

The Opportunity:

ASAP is excited to onboard a rock-star General Manager with high integrity who is hands-on and ready to spearhead our end-to-end project deliverables while seamlessly managing customer accounts in a dynamic environment. The role of G.M. in a small (but stable & growing) company brings the unique opportunity to make a direct impact as an operator. It also requires full accountability, resilience, and leadership by example.

We’re looking for a go-getter with a positive attitude. Somebody with strong attention to detail and high energy; who is also articulate and highly customer-centric. You already know from experience that juggling multiple projects simultaneously demands a meticulous and exceptionally well-organized individual who has mastered time-efficiency and values equanimity. While you bring strong experience to the table (e.g. previously ran a fabrication / manufacturing plant), you're also willing to learn, receive feedback, embrace tech, and experiment with new ideas.

Our customer accounts enjoy interfacing with you because of your positivity, cool, open communication, and ability to problem solve. You offer a breath of fresh air to our customers as they truly believe your commitment and involvement with their projects is integral to their success. You’re fluent with shop drawings, fabrication best practices, inventory management, job quoting, and you instill great confidence in our hardworking team. People may use the follow adjectives to describe you: a doer who is incredibly helpful, resourceful, knowledgeable, friendly, kind, accessible, honest, & who always gets the job done. This is the “ASAP” way.

How is this opportunity different? Our G.M. has full autonomy as an operator with a driving passion for Metal Fabrication / manufacturing. You’re not interested in working in a cubicle surrounded by layers of middle-management. A blue sky of opportunity across industries / sectors excites you (e.g. not stuck in a fixed role within the construction supply chain such as strictly glazing or curtain wall). Your success shines in the ability to deliver results (the right way) for happy customers instead of navigating bureaucracy. You thrive in a fabrication / manufacturing setting without any of the field demands of installation / jobsite warriors. You already recognize this unique opportunity at hand to finally make a real impact and grow with us while having the full backing + support of ownership that's local and active.

Responsibilities:

· Purchasing while balancing a budget with great discipline.

· Closely monitor inventory (materials, consumables, supplies, etc.).

· Accurately & efficiently translate technical drawings.

· Perform “take-offs” & mark-up customer drawings.

· Create an accurate cutting-list for job prep.

· Directly interface with customer accounts.

· Coordinate deliveries with our fulfillment team.

· Maintain project files for each individual job.

· Assist the fabrication team with prioritization and drawing-related questions.

· Own the role = Freedom to operate and work independently, but collaboration is encouraged and there's easy access to ownership. Open communication, new ideas, and questions are never frowned upon. We respect your industry experience and value your input.

Requirements:

· Quant competency plus soft skills.
· Highly organized and detail-oriented.
· Positive attitude and willingness to learn.
· Strong proficiency with reading drawings.
· Affable demeanor and professional etiquette.
· Excellent written and oral communication skills.
· Computer proficiency with email and basic software.
· Ability to juggle multiple projects simultaneously (with aplomb).
· You own a laptop and smartphone that you’re comfortable using for work.
· Ability to problem solve and swiftly resolve issues (with a smile and minimal stress).
· Minimum experience of 5 years in Project Management, G.M., and/or Operator roles.
· Minimum industry exposure of 5 years (Metal Fab., Manufacturing, and/or Commercial Dev.).
· Have a deep understanding of material attributes, constraints, and industry best practices.
· Strong problem-solving skills with ability to gracefully meet tight deadlines is a must.

Compensation:

Competitive salary in a dynamic yet stable “start-up” environment with a performance-based structure (Base + Monthly Bonus). Optional health insurance benefits.

PLEASE NOTE we hope to meet a dedicated and principled individual with the vision and commitment to really own this role over the long-term and grow with us. 2023 was a record year and frankly we're just getting started. When the company does well, everybody does well and that includes you.

Smart play: Live in an affordable zip code that is both family-friendly and experiencing a ton of growth (i.e. development of new subdivisions, restaurants, and shopping with easy access to surrounding counties / highways). We're located just 40 miles from Atlanta's international airport.

We’re a small team of passionate and hardworking people geared towards high performance, but we also deeply value kindness, respect, curiosity, and fun. We prioritize work-life balance. Days start early, but often end while the sun is still shining. We offer paid vacation commensurate with years of service. Whatever benefits we lack versus a larger corporate, we make up in droves by offering a work culture that promotes freedom, peace of mind, and a team that cares. Many thanks for your interest and we sincerely look forward to meeting you!
