As our Front Desk representative you will be our company’s first impression on our patients! As such, it is your responsibility to energetically greet all incoming guests with a smile and a kind word when checking them in. You will be answering telephone calls in a professional and polite manner. This job has various duties including, insurance verification, updating patient's information, data entry, copying records, faxing records, scanning, filing, and collecting copayments. You will also be responsible for helping patients to select appropriate frames and lenses, as well as taking optical measurements and creating lab orders.
Essential duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Answer incoming telephone calls, determine the purpose of calls, handle things such as ordering contact lenses and scheduling appointments, as well as forwarding calls to the appropriate personnel
- Greet patients professionally, determining the nature and purpose of their visit, then handling them accordingly
- Direct patients to their appropriate destination or waiting room
- Collect, sort, distribute and prepare correspondence, mail, messages and deliveries
- Print, fax, email, photocopy, scan, and mail medical documents
- Receive payments and record receipts for services rendered
- Comply with HIPAA at all times

- Must have reliable transportation
- Must be highly detail-oriented
- Multi-tasking capability without compromising on quality
- Must be willing to work Saturdays occasionally (4 hour shift)
- Must be self-motivated and able to work independently
- Excellent customer service to interact with people in a positive and courteous manner
- Prior experience in customer service
- Must be comfortable with sales (this position is responsible for selling prescription glasses and accessories to patients)
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to prioritize tasks according to importance in a sometimes fast paced environment
- Must be proficient in handling office equipment including multiple lined telephones, printers, photocopy machines, etc.
- Must have basic computer skills
*Preferred, but not required:
- Experience using OfficeMate or another Patient Records Database
- Optical Experience
- Front Desk Experience
- Sales Experience
