Busy Eyecare practice in Pikesville, MD seeking an experienced Front Desk representative / Surgical Coordinator.
Front Desk Representative:
1. Greeting and welcoming patients and visitors in a friendly and professional manner.
2. Registering new patients and updating existing patient information in EHR.
3. Scheduling appointments for eye examinations, surgeries, and follow-up visits, ensuring efficient use of the physician's time.
4. Answering phone calls and addressing patient inquiries or directing them to the appropriate staff member.
5. Verifying insurance coverage and obtaining necessary authorizations for procedures or surgeries.
6. Collecting co-payments, deductibles, and outstanding balances from patients and providing them with receipts.
7. Maintaining patient confidentiality and adhering to HIPAA regulations.
8. Managing and organizing patient records, ensuring accuracy and completeness.
9. Assisting with administrative tasks such as filing, faxing, and scanning documents.
10. Collaborating with other staff members to ensure smooth patient flow and excellent customer service.
Surgical Scheduling:
1. Coordinating surgical scheduling for patients, including preoperative and postoperative appointments.
2. Reviewing surgical requirements and ensuring all necessary preoperative tests and clearances are obtained.
3. Communicating with patients to explain surgical procedures, answer questions, and address concerns.
4. Collaborating with physicians, surgeons, and other healthcare professionals to schedule surgeries and coordinate availability.
5. Obtaining insurance authorizations and pre-certifications for surgical procedures.
6. Ensuring all necessary documentation, consent forms, and medical records are complete and accurate.
7. Coordinating with the surgical team, operating room staff, and anesthesia providers to schedule surgeries and ensure proper resources are available.
8. Managing surgical schedule changes, cancellations, and rescheduling requests.
9. Providing patients with preoperative instructions, including fasting requirements and medication guidelines.
10. Following up with patients post-surgery to schedule and coordinate necessary follow-up appointments and ensure proper recovery.
