The YMCA is seeking Welcome Center Staff who are responsible for engaging and building relationships with customers while registering individuals for memberships and programming. Responsible for providing excellent service and engagement to all members, guests, and program participants in person and on the phone to ensure the purpose, mission, and values of the YMCA.
The YMCA Welcome Centers are open and staffed during the branch operating hours:
- Weekdays: 5:30 a.m. to 9:00 p.m.
- Weekends: 7:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.

Duties and Responsibilities:
- Greet all those entering the building and monitor building access by properly checking membership and class/program participants.
- Answer phones, provide exceptional information and excellent customer service, take messages or route calls.
- Process all transactions using membership software to assist with membership, program registration, and other transactions.
- Collect and process all fees, issue receipts, practice proper cash handling procedures, and prepare end-of-shift summary report.
- Keep reception and lobby areas clean, orderly, and attractive.
- Provide membership information and facility tours to prospective members.
- Help solve problems when minor incidents and member complaints occur and notify appropriate management personnel.
- Establish and maintain good communication with all members, participants, coworkers and supervisor.
- Report member and guest comments, suggestions, complaints, concerns, and problems to supervisor in a timely manner.
Job Requirements:
- High school diploma or equivalent. Must be at least 18 years of age.
- Minimum one year customer service.
- Minimum one year use of Microsoft Office.
- Comfortable using computers and phones.
- Ability to accept supervision, guidance, and constructive feedback.
- Outgoing, friendly, and enthusiastic personality.
- Must have strong relationship-building and communication skills.
- Promote and represent the mission and core values of the YMCA.
- Ability to respond to safety and emergency situations.
- Completion of YMCA trainings within specified timeframe.
Physical Demands:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is often required to: bend, stoop, twist, reach with hands, stand, sit for an extended period of time, lift and/or move up to 30 pounds, have finger dexterity, grasp, perform repetitive motions, speak, hear, and have visual acuity.
