Job description

Company Description
Since we opened our doors in 2009, the world of commerce has evolved immensely, and so has Square. After enabling anyone to take payments and never miss a sale, we saw sellers stymied by disparate, outmoded products and tools that wouldn't work together.
So we expanded into software and started building integrated, omnichannel solutions - to help sellers sell online, manage inventory, offer buy now, pay later functionality through Afterpay, book appointments, engage loyal buyers, and hire and pay staff. Across it all, we've embedded financial services tools at the point of sale, so merchants can access a business loan and manage their cash flow in one place. Afterpay furthers our goal to provide omnichannel tools that unlock meaningful value and growth, enabling sellers to capture the next generation shopper, increase order sizes, and compete at a larger scale.
Today, we are a partner to sellers of all sizes - large, enterprise-scale businesses with complex operations, sellers just starting, as well as merchants who began selling with Square and have grown larger over time. As our sellers grow, so do our solutions. There is a massive opportunity in front of us. We're building a significant, meaningful, and lasting business, and we are helping sellers worldwide do the same.
Job Description
We are looking for a Fraud Policy Analyst responsible for formalizing policy across Square's Payment Acceptance Fraud team. This includes analyzing fraud trends, high loss events, and product risk profiles to create and maintain global fraud detection policies and operational procedures. The ideal candidate has a strong understanding of fraud risk in payments and/or technology, aptitude and interest for documentation management and governance, and experience supporting operations enablement programs such as quality assurance (QA) or learning and development (L&D).
In addition to formalizing Fraud Policy and supporting operational programs, the Fraud Policy Analyst will create new policies for Square's emerging products, scope business and tooling requirements, and streamline processes as new initiatives are launched.
Job Responsibilities
  • Scope, publish, and maintain comprehensive policies and procedures for fraud and abuse
  • Create operational efficiencies by refining processes, producing training materials, and scoping resources
  • Maintain expertise in payments fraud and content abuse and use knowledge to advise cross-functional stakeholders
  • Engage with third parties and vendors where necessary to advance policy and operations goals for the Risk organization
  • Interface with external stakeholders such as regulators, card networks, and issuers on topics related to risk and fraud
  • Monitor, track, and analyze emerging fraud and abuse risk trends and provide recommendations for remediation
  • Monitor and report on operational metrics and KPIs, and partner with the Risk Operations team on performance opportunities
  • Build strong internal relationships with partner teams and key internal stakeholders

Qualifications
  • 3+ years experience in risk and/or fraud detection in financial services or technology, with payments-related experience preferred
  • 0-1 years experience in project or program management
  • Superior writing and editing skills, with the ability to produce copy requiring minimal rework; technical or procedural writing experience a plus
  • Ability to synthesize information and make clear, concise recommendations on a course of action
  • Experience working with an operations team and providing support to operations teams across countries and time zones
  • Ability to use data to identify trends and anomalies, as well as to make recommendations for new initiatives; experience with SQL and Looker a plus
  • Ability to execute small to medium-sized cross-functional projects with limited oversight
