What you will do!
The primary purpose of this position is to serve as the OIS Communications Coordinator to ensure the appropriate handling of communications issues, messaging, and strategy implementation. This position applies advanced communication, marketing, and analytical methods to carry out communication activities and initiatives independently, as well as with teams, with direction as needed from the OIS Office of the CIO, and in coordination with OIS leadership and staff.
This position is charged with determining the best approach, methods, and techniques for communicating with diverse audiences internally with OIS staff, and externally with ODHS and OHA staff and partners statewide.
The efforts of the OIS Communications Coordinator are aimed at providing OIS, ODHS and OHA leadership and employees with the information they need to know to understand and support the OIS mission, programs, strategies, and activities, including understanding how to access and receive IT services.
The Communications Coordinator assists OIS leadership and staff by providing support for communications activities and initiatives that are focused internally to all OIS staff and externally to more than 17,000 ODHS/OHA staff and partners statewide.
This position has responsibility for leading efforts promoting change across OIS that may also include OIS users/customers and service providers. This position is required to develop and maintain ongoing communication links and contacts with managers and other staff throughout OHA and ODHS.

What we are looking for:
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
A Bachelor's Degree in Business or Public Administration, Behavioral or Social Sciences, Finance, Political Science or any degree demonstrating the capacity for the knowledge and skills; and four years professional-level evaluative, analytical and planning work.

OR;
Any combination of experience and education equivalent to seven years of experience that typically supports the knowledge and skills for the classification.
Working Conditions
This position involves frequent contact with executives, management, and staff both internal and external to the organization. It requires working with a variety of people and situations, which requires the incumbent to exercise diplomacy. Confidentiality of information must be maintained at all times. Occasionally travel to meetings is required with some travel to trainings. There can be frequent interruptions, demanding timeframes, and non-traditional working hours. The location of this position is in an office, cubicle and/or an agreed upon remote work environment with significant use of a computer and video conferencing.
Desired Attributes:
•Excellent verbal and written communication skills are essential. Strong skills are needed in taking highly technical information and converting it to lay terms for customer messages, exceptional skills in effective listening for interviewing staff, gathering information, and culminating it into a method of communication in a very short time frame.
•Experience applying marketing and communication techniques.
•Experience in laying out copy and images for publication online, collaboration platforms, in documents, presentations, newsletters, etc. Skilled in formatting and design.
•Experience writing/developing, approving content for agency intranet, and performing updates and maintenance on the site. This includes experience with presenting web content to optimize usability and accessibility.
•Experience with social media and how to use digital platforms to educate and inform key stakeholders and users.
•Highly organized, ability to manage multiple assignments simultaneously with minimal direction (and effectively establish and understand priorities), the ability to conceptualize and complete projects independently, make decisions, and keep management informed of those decisions.
•Personal computer skills including Microsoft Office 365 applications and other software applications used in communication and marketing.
