Our Family Preservation Policy Analysts will serve alongside staff and communities to support the continued development and implementation of the Family Preservation approach within Self Sufficiency and Child Welfare and the communities served by their programs. We highly value lived experience with the SSP and/or Child Welfare Programs.

Your duties at a glance
As an employee working within the Child Welfare Program, you will have an opportunity to make a meaningful difference in the lives of Oregon's most vulnerable children and families. Your dedication will help us achieve the Child Welfare Vision for Transformation that will support children and young adults to be safer, healthier, experience less trauma and achieve a greater well-being.
As a Family Preservation Policy Analyst, you will:
  • Support the development and implementation of a Family Preservation approach within Child Welfare, Self Sufficiency Program, and the community.
  • Focus on serving more children in their homes and communities than in foster care.
  • Develop and coordinate continuous quality improvement (CQI) by identifying and addressing gaps & needs both in the community and internally.
  • Support the creation and implementation of cross program and cross-agency policy, tools, data, and contracts supporting preservation and bringing together communities to develop a prevention system to address the needs of the whole family and community.
  • Analyze data, communicate the findings to various partners, communities, and staff, and use the information gathered to support development of a statewide fidelity model.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with state and local district child welfare and self-sufficiency office management and line staff to support effective program design and implementation and statewide consistency.
  • Conduct meetings and facilitate discussions with community members to design, develop and implement new Family Preservation practices/policies, this may include support of contract work.

What you need to qualify
  • A bachelor's degree in business or public Administration, Behavioral or Social Sciences, or a degree related to the agency program that demonstrates the capacity for the knowledge and skills; andtwo years' experience coordinating or administering a program OR
  • Any combination of experience or education equivalent to five years of experience that typically supports the knowledge and skill requirements listed for the classification.

  • Experience facilitating and leading groups and moving recommendations forward to completion.
  • Works from an anti-racist framework that holds social justice at the center of the work with staff and families.
  • Has work or lived experience with either or both Child Welfare and or Self Sufficiency.
  • Works from a values base of keeping families together and, in their communities, working toward well-being, stability, and safety.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop relationships and work across programs, agencies, and communities.
  • Ability to analyze information and communicate analysis to various groups in a way that is understandable to the audience.
  • Experience utilizing time management, organization, and prioritization skills to meet deadlines.
  • Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing complex technical and legal information (to people with diverse education, language, and cultural backgrounds).

Working conditions
  • This is a hybrid position, your work way be conducted in the office, community, and remotely. Remote working conditions will need to be discussed with and approved by your manager.
  • Frequent travel (some overnight) to branch offices throughout the district. Travel to other districts to attend meetings, trainings or assist program as needed.
  • Employee will work a professional work week; hours of work may fluctuate based on service needs. Occasional, compensated overtime may be required, including evening and weekend work.
  • You may interact with a wide range of people including some who have experienced trauma and may exhibit challenges in controlling their emotions.
  • You may encounter stressful situations that may require quick decision-making skills.
