Position Summary:
Under general supervision, lead work crews in performing installation and repairs of plumbing fixtures, pipes, and various type of equipment using various hand/power tools. Directly supervises Plumbers. Enforce safety regulations. Provide direction to work crews on a daily basis.
- Plan, assign, supervise, and inspect the work of plumbers and apprentices in plumbing installation and repair work. Maintain accurate records for proper completion of work orders such as labor and material costs.
- Maintain inventory of tools, equipment, and vehicles as assigned daily; inform manager of any known problems with tools, equipment, and vehicles immediately.
- Provide documentation during inspection and/or inventory of tools, equipment, and vehicles as required. Properly dispose of scrap materials.
- Communicate effectively with principals, department heads, district staff, and all other auxiliary services personnel, contractors, and vendors in a professional manner in all phases necessary to locate, correct, repair and complete each job or project.
- Ensure all plumbing code requirements, safety regulations, and safe work practices are observed.
- Manage the after hour call-out schedule for assigned plumbers and ensure the plumbers respond to after hour/emergency calls during their rotation.
- Coordinate jobs, estimate labor, and material requirements. Procure necessary equipment and materials to ensure completion of job in a timely manner.
- Advise leadership concerning specifications for plumbing work in construction and alteration projects performed under contract.
- Coordinate work activities with other crafts and operating units.
- Responsible for all human capital activities for assigned quadrant including, but not limited to, interviewing, training, evaluating, and disciplinary actions for assigned personnel.
- Read and interpret blueprints and related drawings and perform the appropriate installation and repair procedures on plumbing systems.
Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED required.
- Must have a Texas Master Plumbing License.
- Valid Texas Driver's License and a record that meets the District's standard required.
- Must be able to pass the Asbestos physical within 90 days after the hire date.
- Demonstrate leadership and supervisory abilities.
- Demonstrated technical knowledge of craft.
- Knowledge of District organization and operations as required for the position.
- Demonstrated basic knowledge of computers and tablets for record-keeping and work order completion.
