Summary
Responsible for management and supervises of the crews responsible for grounds and parks maintenance in the City of Lancaster by performing the following duties.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Organization of crews and scheduling of routine and preventative maintenance and assigned park projects.
- Hiring and training crew members in routine park duties and equipment operation.
- Communicates with Foreman I and crews with work related information including communication about policy, safety, etc.
- Organizes the acquisition of materials, equipment, and task assistance for crews as needed.
- Documents and maintains all paperwork necessary to track park operations, projects, safety, attendance, and payroll.
- Ensures the supervision of crews responsible for parks, municipal grounds, athletic complexes, etc.
- Assists with the planning and completion of park and municipal facility construction built on municipal park property.
- Ensures all crews assist and participate with the completion and oversight of Parks and Recreation special events.
- Performs electronic and written employee evaluations.
- Prepares cost estimates including budget preparation, documents, specific streets repairs, contract material requisitions, and invoice payments.
- Carries out existing training programs to ensure compliance with all applicable and up to date training in the Parks field. This includes the direction of employees on the proper use of equipment and hand tools to ensure safe use.
- Be able to encourage employees to work as a team out in the field.
- Facilitates safety meetings on a regular schedule to educate staff on proper safety procedures on the job and in the field.
- Oversees the review, preparation, and submission of payroll documentation biweekly.
Manages three subordinate supervisors who supervise employees in the Mowing Crew, Athletics Crew and Prison Labor. Is responsible for the overall direction, coordination, and evaluation of these units. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.Education and/or Experience
High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Texas Department of Agriculture Pesticide Applicators License
National Playground Safety Inspector Certification
A valid Class B (CDL) Driver’s License with a clean driving record is required for this position.
Driving is a requirement of this position.
