Posting Summary:
Under the general direction of the Food Ed Hub Director, the Food Ed Grants Specialist is a part-time position that supports the mission of the Food Ed Hub. This mission is to ensure that all NYC students have quality food and nutrition education and sustainably-produced, culturally-responsive, healthy school food. The Grants Specialist will work with Food Ed Hub partners and the Tisch Food Center team to write and review grants that will fund food and nutrition education programming for NYC school students.
This is a grant-funded position through June 30, 2023. There is a possibility, but no guarantee, of extension.
Job Summary/Basic Function:
Conduct research on potential grants to support food and nutrition education for NYC schools and share funding opportunities with Tisch Food Center staff and Food Ed Hub partners. (25%)
Write, review and edit competitive grant proposals for the Food Ed Hub partners. (40%)
Host open hours and/or scheduled appointments during regular working hours to provide direct grant support to Food Ed Hub partners. (25%)
Facilitate workshops and/or meetings during and after regular working hours to develop grant writing capacity of Food Ed Hub partners. (10%)

Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor's or master's degree in public health, communications, education, public administration, or a related field.
- 3-5 years of related experience in writing and securing grants for non-profit organizations.
- Experience with grant databases and other grant sources
- Demonstrated success with grant letters of intent and proposals (e.g. small and medium+ sizEd Grants), ideally in the fields of food and nutrition education, food systems, or sustainability
- Understanding of grant writing cycles
- Experience creating and managing budgets.
- Experience working with spreadsheets
- Experience creating visuals to represent complex data as charts, graphs, tables, etc
- Demonstrated ability to engage in collaborative efforts with diverse individuals and communities, including youth outreach and engagement
- Commitment to building racial and social justice through leadership development, community engagement
- Able to work both independently and as part of a team
- Exceptional writing and organizational skills with high attention to detail
- The ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment
- The ability to critically assess challenges and identify effective solutions
- The ability to work independently and manage multiple responsibilities simultaneously
- Strong interpersonal skills and communications skills, especially writing skills
- A high level of self-motivation, self-direction and intellectual curiosity
- Some travel within the city required. Car not required.
Salary Range:
$7,000-$21,000
