The College is looking for exceptional colleagues to join the MVCC community. We are currently seeking a part-time Career and EmployerRelations Specialist in our Career Development Center. The Career and EmployerRelations Specialist serves as a liaisonbetween the Career Development Center and specific academic departments toalign services and events with the specific needs of the academic disciplineand corresponding industry or career field. This position will provideindividual and group career development activities to include topic such asresume development, interview preparation, job search, effective use of socialmedia, applied learning, and professionalism. The Career and Employer RelationsSpecialist supports our students and graduates in the realization of the nextsteps in their career path.
Key responsibilities for this position include:
- Manages communication with partners from local business and agencies to facilitate postings for Career and internship opportunities;
- Serves as a liaison to an academic school, collaborating with faculty to support career development of students through class presentations and programming;
- Provides programming and assistance to students with career planning, job search development and professional skills;
- Coordinates Career Fairs, Internship Fairs and Job Shadowing programs;
- Provides individual career counseling to assist student with their choice of academic curriculum;
- Performs other duties related to the job description and as assigned by the Coordinator of Career Services.
Qualifications:
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree
- Three (3) years’ relevant work experience
- Experience with diverse populations
- Effective written and verbal communication,interpersonal skills, computer literacy
- Critical thinking abilities
- Ability to travel locally and work occasionalevenings
Preferred Qualifications:
- Master’s degree
- Experience working in career planning in acollege setting
