The groups medical expertise, which is available at five convenient locations, covers the spectrum of eye care and specialties including: routine eye exams, cataracts, glaucoma, corneal transplants, retina-vitreous care, pediatrics, laser vision correction, and plastic surgery of the eyelids.
We are currently in search of a Follow Up Medical Billing Specialist. The applicant should be a dependable , self-starter, able to work cooperatively as a team player, as well as in an individual setting. Always communicate respectfully and appropriately with others. Ability to learn new procedures and adapt to new/ changing technology in order to optimize claim reconciliation time.
Position requires accuracy, thoroughness, and a good understating of insurance procedures, to include: referral and authorizations, reimbursement allowable rates, deductible, copays, CPT, ICD 10, and Modifiers. Knowledge of all insurance payer groups, including Medicare, Medicaid, and Commercial. As well as Government managed care and Workers Comp plans.
- Review the Accounts Receivable Aging Report for Follow Up of all outstanding claims
- Oversee and manage insurance charges and payments for appropriate reimbursement
- Review Charges for accurate billing and coding – CPT, ICD10, Modifiers
- Review for correct insurance authorization/ referrals linkage
- Submit claims to meet all timely filing requirements
- Follow up on all claim rejections and resubmit accordingly
- Contact Patients when additional information is required, or COB is an issue
- Ensure expected reimbursement for patient services is paid accurately
- Verify benefits as necessary to ensure claims are processed correctly
- Follow up on all claim denials and correct for accurate reimbursement
- Communicate with insurance payers regarding delinquent or denied claims
- Follow up on insurance company request for additional information
- Submit formal appeals and timely Follow Up until an appeal resolution is made
- Perform other duties as assigned
Requirements
- High School Diploma or GED
- Minimum one year of Medical Billing experience in Ophthalmology
- Maintains patient confidentiality at all times
