We are looking for a FINANCIAL CONTROLLER to join our dynamic, fast-paced Financial Statutory Accounting Servicesteam. The desired location for this position is Fort Lauderdale FL or Houston TX, USA.
What will you be doing
As a FINANCIAL CONTROLLER, you will manage, control and ensure correctness of the company's financial reports and support the development of the Financial Statutory Accounting Services team.
The ideal candidate would have a Master's degree in Accounting or Finance and CPA designation.
As a FINANCIAL CONTROLLER, you will focus on these responsibilities:
- Managing and controlling reporting, according to legal compliance and Wärtsilä Corporation accounting manual, guidelines and requirements.
- Ensuring correctness of the company's financial situation, including for example Profit & Loss Statement, Balance sheet and Fixed Assets.
- Accounting and closing activities on company level in SAP and HFM, leading in development and optimizing related processes, and supporting the businesses in financial processes.
- Managing, collecting, and preparing financial information, reports and analyses to internal and external stakeholders and authorities, e.g. tax related reporting (direct, indirect, transfer pricing).
- Providing and presenting Financial Review material to the company Board of Directors Meeting.
- Contributing in external auditing, internal auditing and internal control reporting of the company.
- Supporting and participating in development of Financial Statutory Accounting Services in cooperation with area organisation and in projects which require financial competence and support.
- Leading and building competence in the local Financial Statutory Accounting Services team.
Other responsibilities will include:
- Responsible for local Sub-Group or/and Tax Group or/and branch reporting.
- Reviewing and posting statutory local adjustments and preparing bridge calculations.
- Approving payment proposals and arranging needed documents to the banks.
- Requesting / Approving General Ledger accounts.
- Approving some limited SAP access rights.
- Delegation of Authority (DoA). Managing system authorisations, Power of Attorneys, Letter of Authorities e.g. for banks.
- Approving items (e.g. certain write-offs, based on company Delegation of Authority).
- Fixed Assets related co-ordination and monitoring.
- Monitoring Balance Sheet General Ledger account balances and open items together with other account owners.
- Reporting (mandatory) financial statistics to local authorities.
- Tax related calculations, postings, payments, reclaims, risk reporting, litigations.
- Property related insurances and insurance claims together with Group Risk Management and Businesses.
To be successful in this role, we expect you to have:
- Excellent written and spoken English, Spanish language is a plus
- SAP, Qlikview & HFM skills are preferred
- Ability to pay close attention to detail and coordinate various activities simultaneously
- Ability to maintain confidentiality
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance or related field of study (Master's degree is a plus)
- CPA designation preferred
- Ability to work effectively in a team of diverse colleagues
- Ability to supervise, direct, coach and work under pressure through effective communication
- Experience leading a team and overseeing the activities of a finance/Accounting department
