About the Role and Team
As a key member of the Studio and Retail Accounting team, you will perform essential accounting duties in an energetic, team environment supporting Walt Disney Studios and The Disney Stores. What You Will Do:
- Responsible for the day-to-day general ledger accounting and reporting activities for either:
- Studio Administration, Studio Technology, and Studio Operations business areas
- The Disney Stores (North America Brick & Mortar Stores and Ecommerce)
- Responsible for the preparation, coordination, and analysis of deliverables related to the fiscal close cycles including, but not limited to:
- Recurring and ad hoc journal entries including reclasses, accruals, and allocations
- Variance analysis and commentary for actuals vs. forecast and actuals vs. prior year
- Balance sheet flux analysis and commentary
- Deliverables to Segment Financial Reporting, including ASC-606 disclosures, Related-party revenues and disbursements, inventory metrics and advertising footnote disclosures
- Balance sheet account reconciliations
- Accounting and analysis for inventory, including gross margin, COGS, obsolescence, shrink, and mark out of stock
- Present results of analyses to management, including obsolescence reserve, product integrity, and freight and duty
- Provide analytical research on behalf of multiple Finance partners to support AOP and quarterly forecast cycles, as well as technical accounting research to support ad hoc business partner inquiries
- Complete quarterly SOX, governmental, and tax compliance tasks
Required Qualifications & Skills:
- At least 3 of accounting experience
- Demonstrated strong understanding of US GAAP Financial Statements
- Demonstrated strong analytical skills
- Demonstrated partnering, influencing, and communication skills up and down the organizational structure to convey key elements in a concise and positive manner
- Ability to learn quickly in a fast-paced environment
- Ability to work proactively and independently
- Ability to be flexible with work schedule
- Demonstrated problem solving, decision making, and continuous process improvement skills
- Motivated, disciplined, flexible, and be able to work effectively in collaborative and autonomous environments
- Effective at writing, facilitating, and presenting analyses
- Highly proficient in analyzing financial data in Microsoft Excel
- Ability to thrive in an environment that is both strategic and creative, and which requires rapid learning, multitasking and prioritizing under tight deadlines
Preferred Qualifications:
- SAP or other Enterprise accounting systems preferred
- MBA, MSA, Macc or equivalent
Education
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance
