The Georgia Department of Revenue is hiring a Financial Analyst 2 to join our Revenue Team in the Finance Department!

Primary Job Responsibilities:
Analyzes financial records, trends, accounts and objectives
Records daily revenue entries to and properly classifies the state's $35B+ revenue collections
Prepares revenue packages for each day's revenue entries to report to DOR executive leadership, Office of the State Treasurer, Office of Planning and Budget, etc.
Compiles financial information from all components and develops integrated revenue/expense analyses and reports
Review DOR's cash account reconciliations to ensure that all reconciling items are resolved
Provide documentation to the State Accounting Office and state auditors as needed
Examines entries, statements, expenditures, taxes and other accounting and financial records, documents and systems to ensure financial accuracy, consistent reporting, and legal/program compliance
Monitors financial performance and related data
Participates in the development of financial policies, plans and procedures
What qualifications are required?
Bachelor's degree in a related area from an accredited college or university AND One year of experience in a related area
OR
Associate degree in a related area from an accredited college or university AND Two year of experience in a related area
OR
Two years of professional experience in general accounting, billing and collection systems and/or claims.
The Essentials:
Accounting/fiscal control experience
Experience using PC-based/automated accounting systems and Microsoft Office (Excel, Word) in a work setting
Experience using GenTax (ITS) software
Experience working with deadlines every day
Preferred qualifications:
- Three years of bank account and/or general ledger reconciliation experience
- Three years of recording journal entries for revenue collections, deposits, cash, merchant card transactions
- Three years of reviewing and analyzing bank statements and accounting system documentation
- Three years of experience using online financial institution web portal to obtain, review, and research financial transaction details
- Four years using PC-based/automated accounting systems and Microsoft Office (Excel, Word) in a work setting
- Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance or similar major from an accredited college/university system.
- Two years experience using GenTax (ITS) software
- Experience in state government accounting environment
- Experience recording journal entries in a major ERP system
This is a hybrid position. The Financial Analyst 2 position will operate out of the assigned office and have the ability to telework.
Position Status & Pay Grade: Unclassified - J
Expected salary range: $39,970.70.99 - $62,500
