Position Focus:

Reporting to the Senior Associate Director, Undergraduate Financial Aid (UFA), the Financial Aid Coordinator serves as an active member of dynamic, service oriented, and student-centered team in UFA. This position contributes to Yale’s student recruitment and retention efforts by providing excellent service to all constituents. The primary roles of the Financial Aid Coordinator are to receive, direct and provide accurate information to students and families and to coordinate general office communications. More specifically, the Financial Aid Coordinator will be responsible for the following: Responsible for day-to-day lobby operations (in-person customer service, digital signage, coordination with other building departments). Responsible for front line Financial Aid counseling on such topics as living off campus, student billing, award letter review, study abroad, aid policy, and the appeal/request for review process. Coordinate counseling and escalate complex situations to appropriate aid officers. Coordinate office communications, e.g., international tax, missing information notifications, Yale Daily News advertisements. Perform initial review of and reply to messages in departmental electronic mailbox. Prepare for campus visits, e.g., move-in, orientation, Bulldog Days. Arrange and coordinate technology needs (hardware, inventory).Assist with or otherwise coordinate international tax scholarship process. Complete tax and other third-party forms. Coordinate work of student employees. Coordinate/serve as primary contact for FSY, international taxes, Yale Club. Assist with general onboarding of new staff. Review and determine program eligibility exception requests from campus partners, e.g., YCDO- community college waivers from students seeking reinstatement, Study Abroad - International Study Award eligibility for Eli Whitney and ROTC students; adherence to precedent, consistency, and discretion required.

Essential Duties

1. Provides advice and information to students on short and long-term educational and career goals and on available University resources such as Financial Aid, fellowships, career services and educational programs. 2. Coordinates and oversees a range of processes and programs in such areas as admissions, Financial Aid, registration, placement, and career services. 3. Adapts and implements new policies and processes regarding specific areas of specialty; develops, recommends and implements solutions and corrections to policies and processes. 4. Assists in designing, recommending and implementing computer programs and systems for admissions, registration, career services, and Financial Aid. 5. Processes financial and other transactions, track data, generate and analyze reports. 6. Assists in the design and development of student publications, communications and program web sites. 7. Ensures all student services and student support functions conform to University policies and guidelines. 8. Monitors, maintains, and ensures accuracy of student records; monitor and track status of students. 9. May perform other duties as assigned.

Required Education and Experience

Six years of related work experience, four of them in the same job family at the next lower level, and high school level education; or four years of related work experience and an Associate's degree, or an equivalent combination of education and related experience.

Required Skill/Ability 5:

Intermediate to advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office Word, Excel, Power Point, Outlook.

Preferred Education, Experience and Skills:

Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience preferred. Experience with Ellucian Banner. HigherEducation or similar experience. Experience with mail merge and/or other communication tools(YaleMessage, mailchimp, etc).
