Job Description
Job Overview/Summary:The Finance Specialist assists the finance team in accurately controlling and managing the implementation of accounting systems with a primary focus on supporting the IRC in Denver, Colorado. The Finance Specialist provides internal and external partners with timely, accurate and understandable financial information and reports.
Major Responsibilities:
+ Ensure compliance with IRC's accounting policies and procedures, as well as generally accepted accounting principles and donor requirements, for both the office and donors.
+ Coordinate the implementation of IRC's internal control procedures to safeguard the organization's assets.
+ Support daily financial activities:
+ Prepare entries and approve invoice journals,
+ Invoice and report on Accounts Receivables,
+ Resolve journal entry discrepancies.
+ Assist in month-end/year-end closing tasks:
+ Prepare monthly billing with review of account transactions to ensure accurate coding and completeness,
+ Produce variance analysis report,
+ Build and maintain a comprehensive understanding of donor policies, regulations, and procedures, and share this knowledge with the programs team.
+ Other duties as assigned.
Job Requirements:
+ Two (2) years of post-secondary education or equivalent experience working in accounting, finance, bookkeeping, or administrative support, preferably in a non-profit setting
+ Strong commitment to ensuring the success of the IRC mission while adhering to the values of service, accountability, integrity, and equality as defined in the IRC Way
+ Solid computer-based accounting skills, including spreadsheets and other financial related software programs
+ Proficient in general office software programs like MS Word, Excel, email, and internet
+ Proven track record to work as a team member in a cross-cultural environment
+ Excellent verbal and written communication skills
+ Ability to prioritize and manage time effectively
+ Ability to optimally work with remote teams through telephone, email, videoconference, and other methods of correspondence
+ Fluency in English, written and spoken
Working Environment:
A combination of standard office environment and remote work.
