National Forest Foundation (NFF) is pleased to offer a regular, full-time position to a candidate who will be an integral part of the Marketing team by coordinating with field staff to amplify storytelling for NFF programs and projects across the U.S., and for unrestricted funding and other NFF priorities. The successful candidate will work remotely and may be located anywhere in the western United States.


About the NFF: The NFF works with communities and organizations to conserve and enhance the watersheds, wildlife habitat, wild places, and recreational opportunities across the 193-million-acre National Forest System. The NFF seeks to engage all Americans in this work.


Position Function: The Field Marketing Coordinator will report to the Director of Marketing and is responsible for liaising with field staff to support the NFF’s mission. The position will work in partnership with an existing Field Marketing Coordinator, closely with the Marketing team, development staff, and field program staff to uncover the best stories to effectively communicate the impact of our on-the-ground conservation work, the NFF mission, programs, and projects across the U.S.


Position Duties and Responsibilities: The Field Marketing Coordinator will:

  • Act as a marketing liaison to field programs to build communications capacity across the organization.
  • Lead and manage all regional marketing content including but not limited to video, photography assets, external vendors, etc.
  • Develop and execute regional email marketing strategy including the distribution of NFF’s monthly and quarterly newsletters, fundraising appeals, and audience cultivations.
  • Develop and execute regional social media strategy and partner with the NFF’s Digital Marketing Associate to execute regular outreach via these channels. (Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, etc.)
  • Collaborate with field and development staff to provide marketing direction for local fundraising campaigns.
  • Report on key metrics and key performance indicators, adjusting and creating strategies to achieve organizational objectives.
  • Provide essential project and brand management for a variety of Marketing initiatives for field programs.
  • Research, write and edit regional marketing materials for print, email, and online distribution to various NFF constituencies, including donors, corporate partners, etc.
  • Assist with other duties as assigned.
Requirements:

Education and Qualifications: NFF expects the Field Marketing Coordinator to possess the following educational and experiential qualifications:

  • Excellent communication skills, especially verbal, writing, and editing.
  • Bachelor’s degree in communications, marketing, or a related field and at least three years of progressive experience across a variety of marketing channels.
  • Excellent attention to detail.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in a variety of applications including Microsoft Office, Adobe Suite, Craft, Meltwater, and Canva.
  • Excellence in writing and editing a variety of communications and marketing products.
  • Excellent project management skills.
  • Prior success with multi-channel initiatives and integrated marketing campaigns.
  • Excellent communication skills, including writing, editing, and telephone communication.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in common office procedures and software, including Microsoft 365 and Office Suite, including PowerPoint, Word, & Excel. Familiarity with CRM systems.

Abilities and Skills: NFF expects the Field Marketing Coordinator to possess the following abilities and skills:

  • Ability to work independently, managing a variety of projects and tasks effectively, with minimal oversight, in a remote environment.
  • Ability to represent the NFF with diverse partners and donors in a clear and professional manner through excellent written and oral communication skills, and excellent interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to build relationships by communicating the NFF mission and discussing NFF programs and projects with professionalism, enthusiasm, passion, candor, and nuance.
  • Excellent organizational skills with a strong attention to detail.
  • Ability to work well and be flexible in a team-oriented environment.
  • A commitment to the mission of the NFF.
  • A commitment to DEI principles.
  • Both resilience and a sense of humor.
  • Ability to travel 25-40%, and occasionally work evenings and/or weekends.

Location: The location for this position is flexible throughout the US with a strong preference for the American West. This position is a remote/work from home position and requires reliable internet access and a dedicated workspace.


Compensation: The NFF offers competitive compensation and benefits and has recently implemented a new compensation program as part of our commitment to transparency. The salary range for this position will be in the $56,000 to $70,200 range and may be eligible for locality adjustment. Please note that the indicated salary range describes the full range for an incumbent in this position. Most new staff generally start at the 35th percentile of the range percentile to ensure internal salary equity.
