About the Organization: Marine Education Initiative (MEI) is a non-profit organization in Delray Beach, Florida, focused on marine conservation through education. We believe that the future of conservation depends on empowering and educating the next generation of environmental advocates. We use our educational programs to teach students about Florida’s ecosystems and sustainable practices. We also donate the produce grown and fish raised at our aquaponics farm to local soup kitchens in Palm Beach County.
Position Summary: MEI is looking for a Farm Technician to perform daily farm maintenance in our climate-controlled vertical farm. This is an on-site part-time job. Candidates are expected to cover farm care on Tuesdays and Wednesdays with an occasional Thursday or Saturday. One “shift” should take 4-8 hours. Employees may assist with harvesting, transplanting, and seeding new crops.
This job is designed to give hands-on experience in sustainable agriculture, foster skills in community resilience efforts, and mentor future environmentalists through project design and execution. Individuals interested in sustainability, community service, environmental education, and earth sciences would be a great fit.
Position Requirements: The candidate must have reliable transportation to the farm. Applicants should have demonstrated the ability to work independently, reliability, and attention to detail. Availability on Tuesday and Wednesday is required.
