Job Description
Performs responsible semi-skilled work in the cleanliness, repair, maintenance, and care of the County's grounds and related facilities. Responsible for opening, closing, and monitoring facility operations and assisting with activities associated with operations.
The hiring range for this position is from $14.68/hour to $19.82/hour based on experience.
The full range for this position is from $14.68/hour to $24.96/hour to provide opportunity for growth and development.
Examples of Duties
- Prepares facilities for use, performs custodial and Maintenance work, monitors activities, and enforces rules.
- Performs building and grounds maintenance work;
- Operates light automotive or power equipment in connection with tasks;
- Performs custodial and Maintenance tasks to include stocking and cleaning of restroom facilities;
- Marks athletic fields to prescribed standards;
- Runs errands, picks up and delivers supplies, equipment, and materials as needed;
- Performs litter control and ensures trash is dumped;
- Prepares facilities for use;
- Monitors activities and enforcing rules;
- Opens, sets up, and closes parks and facilities;
- Responsible for unlocking/locking school and park facilities;
- Works with Park Supervisors to verify usage of site assets;
- Informs visitors of park rules and regulations and arranges for removal of violators;
- Reports accidents, vandalism and thefts;
- Reports unsafe conditions to the Park Maintenance Supervisor; and
- Performs related tasks as required.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Some knowledge of the materials, equipment, tools, and techniques of the standard building trades; some knowledge of safety precautions applicable to the duties of the class; ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions; ability to use common hand tools; ability to operate machinery and equipment; ability to establish effective working relationships with other workers, program participants, and the general public; ability to enforce rules and regulations and maintain discipline.
Any combination of education and experience equivalent to graduation from high school and some experience in working with the public including working as a Facility Attendant or relevant experience with grounds maintenance.
Education and Experience
Possession of a valid driver's license issued by the Commonwealth of Virginia and ANSI approved steel-toed boots or shoes. First Aid and CPR certification preferred. Minimum age of 18 years old.
