Overview
The Facilities Project Manager is responsible for driving both facilities improvement and operational projects as well as contribute to maintaining HSSV’s main building and satellite facilities as part of the Facilities team. The role requires a motivated and ambitious individual who is passionate about providing the best physical environment possible for our staff, the animals we care for, and the public. As with all staff, the Facilities Project Manager is responsible for providing consideration and courtesy to all members of the public, volunteers, and coworkers, and consistently demonstrating a positive and professional attitude.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Collaborate with Facilities Manager and Chief of Operations to identify new projects.
- Develop and drive Facilities Projects, including the planning, organization, vendor selection, and coordination of construction design, including bidding and project implementation.
- Facilitate resolution of project challenges; prepare project updates and monitor budgets to ensure project expenditures remain within the scope of work.
- Ensure effective, timely written and oral communication with contractors, vendors, and internal customers during all phases of design and execution of facility related projects.
- Review and process invoices from contractors/vendors.
- Develop and maintain new and existing standard operation procedures (SOP) for Facilities.
- Perform routine inspections of building facility and equipment, noting conditions, reporting to management, and initiating repairs.
- Help manage tracking and analysis of facilities work through FMX.
- Support shipping and receiving and other facilities work to support the team.
- Maintain a clean, safe work environment and work areas, tools, and spare parts in a systematic, organized, and clean fashion.
- Other job duties may be assigned as needed.
Requirements
- Strong building maintenance experience with a proven track record of successfully managing facility related projects >$100K with trade safety practices experience.
- Strong project management skills with ability to be well organized and detail oriented.
- Knowledge of building mechanical principles/codes, materials, electrical, plumbing, and HVAC systems.
- Confident and able to work on own initiative and with limited supervision.
- Ability to identify and effectively manage business requirements, research options, estimate costs, validate contractor/vendor capabilities, build project plans, make recommendations, and drive decision making with stakeholders on time and within budget.
- Outstanding interpersonal and customer service skills (with internal and external audiences), including excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Enthusiastic, responsible, and dependable team player with problem solving capabilities.
- Ability to be certified with using forklift. The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
- While performing the duties of this job, this role requires ability to regularly sit; stand; use hands and fingers; handle or feel; reach with hands and arms; and talk and hear. Occasionally be required to walk; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. Must frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
Work Days and Hours
Hours may vary depending on staffing needs and may occasionally include adjusted schedules to support evening hours or weekends, depending on organization needs.
