Job Summary and Qualifications

Position Summary: Under the direct supervision of the Director of Plant Operations, assists in the overall operation of the department to provide an optimum and cost-effective operation of all equipment, buildings, grounds and other hospital properties. Serves as Lead Technician for the Plant Operations Department to provide assignments, assistance and instruction to the Mechanics 1 and 2, HVAC Mechanics, Telecommunication Techs on a daily basis, as needed. You are expected to smile!

Essential Functions:

• Performs general maintenance and construction functions as directed by the Supervisor of Plant Operations.
• Assists the Director of Plant Operations with the daily operations of the department to include: acts as Lead Tech or as the go-to-person for the mechanics, telecommunication techs, to get assistance or instruction as needed to successfully complete assignments. Ensures work is performed to the highest quality and professional standards by all departmental employees.
• Acts as Administrative back up for the Director in the Directors absence for Vacation, Sick or Business Travel. This is to include full operations of the Plant Operations department and Security Department for the duration of time assigned by the Director. Develops time and cost estimates for projects and maintaining minimum required parts inventory. Assist with making work assignments of all department employees.
• Performs preventive maintenance and testing of the emergency generators, transfer switches and associated equipment to NFPA standards.
• Immediately identifies and informs the Supervisor of Plant Operations of any malfunctioning equipment.
• Completes work orders in timely manner or brings to the attention of the supervisor all orders which cannot be completed.
• Complies with OSHA standards in the work place.
• Helps to maintain a clean, safe and organized work area.
• Records data as required in appropriate logs.
• Makes repairs as required at Outpatient Facilities when requested by Director of Plant Operations.
• Demonstrates an ability to interpret blue prints, schematic diagrams and instruction manuals.

HCA Florida Lake Monroe Hospital is a 221-bed acute care hospital. We serve the communities of Seminole and West Volusia County.
