SUMMARY
The Facilities Maintenance Tech provides services for the security, set up and maintenance of the parish property, Church, Family Life Center, Rectory, and other parish buildings.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
The following duties and functions, as outlined herein, are intended to be representative of the type of tasks performed within this classification. They are not listed in any order of importance. Other duties may be required and assigned.
- Ability to communicate professionally and effectively with staff members, parishioners, service companies, public companies (Police Fire, EMS) and the general public.
- Observes visitors and contractors to ensure a safe environment is maintained at all times.
- Sets up rooms for special activities, religious education classes and other parish functions.
- Operates the Audio/Visual systems for Masses and parish activities.
- Supports the offsite Outreach efforts - Food Pantry, Outreach and Resale Shop.
- Performs required preventative maintenance actions such as, bulb and filter changes. Maintains the baptismal font and holy water fonts.
- Cares for the entrances to the church and Family Life Center and assists in ensuring areas are ready for parish activities.
- Makes minor plumbing, electrical, and air conditioning repairs, and observes approved contractors while onsite.
- Ensures the grounds are maintained by spraying of weed killer and insecticides.
- Opens and closes on-site buildings. Secures buildings accordingly.
- Ability to work consistently one to two evening per week until 8:30 pm and one to two weekend days as required.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
Individual must be experienced in building maintenance; have knowledge of and skill in using tools and equipment; and maintain confidentiality in all matters. One year working in a similar situation preferred. Must possess and maintain a valid Florida drivers' license. Ability to use a computer. No audio/Visual experience necessary.
OTHER SKILLS and ABILITIES
- Must have working knowledge of all building systems, HVAC, Electrical, Plumbing, etc.
- Individual should have the knowledge and skills to diagnose trouble issues, make minor repairs and be able to work with outside vendors to get repairs done to the building systems.
- Knowledge of the proper use and disposal of hazardous materials, safe handling techniques, and use of proper safety equipment as outlined by OSHA.
- Must have repair skills for minor equipment used inside or outside.
- Must be self-motivated and prompt in performing tasks.
- Must successfully pass Diocesan background screening and Safe Environment Training.
WORKING CONDITIONS
The working hours of this position are not limited to an 8-hour day. This person will need to be available in the evening and weekends, as needed. Must be willing to work in conditions of stress and function well under pressure.
LANGUAGE/COMMUNICATION SKILLS
Ability to read and interpret basic correspondence. Excellent interpersonal and organizations skills. Must have a pleasant telephone manner and good communication skills.
REASONING ABILITY
Individual must be able to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists and the ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
PHYSICAL and SENSORY REQUIREMENTS
Tasks involve the ability to exert heavy physical effort in heavy work, with greater emphasis on climbing 12 feet and balancing, but typically also involving some combination of stooping, kneeling, bending, crouching, and crawling, and the lifting, carrying, pushing, and/or pulling of moderately heavy objects and materials (50 pounds). Exposure to climate changes, uncomfortable temperatures, and fumes. Work in well lighted and ventilated areas, hot and cold temperatures, and dark and tight quarters. Work inside and outside of buildings. Works with machinery requiring considerable caution.
