The Organization: Founded in 2006 as a nonprofit organization based in Greenville, SC, YouthBASE's mission is to equip students in K-5 through 2nd grades with the behavioral, academic, social and emotional skills they need so they may succeed at school, home, and in the community. YouthBASE specializes in helping young students who are at risk of falling behind academically using a targeted, holistic approach to ensure that every child is prepared and on track by the 3rd grade using evidenced-based intervention strategies. Overview of Position:
The Executive Director is responsible for the successful leadership and management of the organization according to the strategic direction set by the Board of Directors within the Bylaws of YouthBASE. These responsibilities include leadership and strategic direction, fund development and donor relations, financial stewardship, and staffing and operations management. The Executive Director will work a standard work week, but occasionally work evening or weekend hours to accommodate activities such as Board meetings, Family Night events, and representing the organization at public events.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead strategic planning with processes to evaluate program impact and results. Develop an operational plan which supports the strategic direction of the organization.
- Be the primary spokesperson for the organization and represent the organization at community activities to enhance the organization's community profile.
- Oversee the efficient and effective day-to-day operation of the organization.
- Oversee the planning, implementation and evaluation of the organization's programs, services and special projects.
- Oversee all functions of human resources including implementation and development of policies, procedures and practices.
- Manage all staffing requirements including recruiting, interviewing, hiring, onboarding, training, ongoing coaching and performance evaluation and termination, when necessary.
- Establish and maintain a fund development plan to coincide with the budgetary needs of the organization. Serve as the primary fundraiser for the organization in collaboration with the Board to secure adequate funding for the operation of the organization.
- Communicate with stakeholders to keep them informed of the work of the organization and to identify changes in the community served by the organization.
- Establish good working relationships and collaborative arrangements with community groups, funders, elected officials (as appropriate), and other organizations to help achieve the goals of the organization.
- Identify and evaluate the risks to the organization's people (clients, staff, management, volunteers), property, finances, goodwill, and image and implement measures to control risks.
- Maintain physical facilities, vehicles and equipment in an acceptable and safe state of repair and operating condition; including maintenance of all required taxes, licenses, regulations and insurance.
Qualifications & Experience
- Bachelor's degree required. Master’s degree preferred.
- Experience as Executive Director, or leader of a nonprofit or similar setting/undertaking is preferred. Five or more years of relevant nonprofit experience (or related field) should include fundraising/development and nonprofit management with evidence of effectiveness in fund development and leadership.
- Knowledge of nonprofit fund development, including grant writing and grants management required.
- Knowledge of financial systems, policy and procedure development, and strong financial background in administration and management.
- Experience working with a Board of Directors and knowledge of nonprofit governance is preferred.
- Experience working with underserved and diverse populations, preferred.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $55,000.00 - $70,000.00 per year
