Description
The EXCEL program is a specialized program that services with students with neurodevelopmental disorders, such as developmental delayed, intellectual impairment and other complex learning. The students require intensive academic, organization, independence, independent living skills, as well as social and student readiness skills. communication and behavioral support instruction with specially designed and modified curriculum. Students may also require additional support with organization, independence, independent living skills, as well as social and student readiness skills.
Responsibilities
Provides team small group or individualized instruction and/or academic support according to the general and specific goals outlined in students' individualized educational plans within mainstream or pullout setting.
Modifies and adapts the curricula, materials, and physical environment to meet the needs of individual pupils.
Participates in Team meetings for pupils in the program or newly referred.
Acts as Case Manager for designated students, providing close communication with parents and staff and preparing progress reports, annual review narratives and individual education plans.
Attends designated school staff meetings.
Submits budget request, and required status reports as requested.
Qualifications
Massachusetts Certification as Teacher of School Age Children with Special Needs preferred.
Experience working with students with complex learning need/intellectual impairments.
Experience with creating individual programs for functional academics, pre-vocational skills, life skills, social skills and positive support plans.
