EVENTS SPECIALIST, School of Science, to create, develop, and execute strategies for effective event content and delivery of high-profile events (an average of twenty per academic year). Will serve as programming expert and project manager for cross-Institute teams of staff and leadership; and report to the assistant dean for development and lead all on-campus and off-campus events such as special lectures, reunions, retreats, graduations, conferences, workshops, parties, seminars, etc., that reach wide and varied audiences within and beyond MIT. Audiences include faculty, alumni, donors, students, staff, postdoctoral scholars, etc. Regular, ongoing, and ad hoc events take place on-site and at off-site venues.

Job Requirements
REQUIRED: bachelor’s degree; at least five years of experience in event management; demonstrated ability to provide excellent customer service, build relationships, multitask, and work effectively and independently in a pressured work environment; excellent organizational, project management, problem-solving, interpersonal, and oral and written communication; self-motivation and initiative; a flexible approach to daily responsibilities; good judgment and tact; excellent computer skills, including proficiency with MS Office, scheduling and file sharing tools, and communication tools in a remote setting; and ability to identify and learn new programs/software as needed.
