A collaboration of the Alfred E. Mann School of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences and the Sol Price School of Public Policy, the USC Schaeffer Center's mission is to measurably improve value in health through evidence-based policy solutions, research excellence, and private and public sector engagement.
The Schaeffer Center is seeking an Events Managerto join the team, who will manage, plan, and execute all events at the Center, including the Advisory Board meetings, seminars, conferences, internal Center activities, and collaborative events with various USC Schools. This position will be expected to plan and execute Schaeffer Center events in Los Angeles and Washington D.C. Event experience in the D.C. area is a big plus. This is a full-time, two year fixed-term, hybrid work arrangement position.
Key duties/areas of oversight include but are not limited to the following:

  • Planning and managing of Center events - overseeing the day-of operations, including creating and coordinating of timelines, walk-throughs, staffing plans, and preparatory meetings/information; developing and managing event budgets; sending out and managing communications re: events; overseeing relationships with venues; and maintaining accurate records of the events.
  • Serving as a liaison for both external and internal stakeholders - providing support on meeting logistics; processing travel reimbursements for guests; and working with vendors.
  • Managing staff, students workers, and volunteers for events - creating staffing plans for events and providing oversight in its execution; and working closely with event counterparts at the Price and Mann Schools in order to successfully execute collaborative events.

The Events Manager will be expected to work effectively on multiple projects, be resourceful, and take the initiative to address and resolve issues. This position will be an integral member of the Schaeffer Center's External Affairs team, and successful candidates will be flexible and possess a willingness to pivot as needed.

Compensation
Commensurate with experience and qualifications.
The annual base salary range for this position is $87,797 - $115,000. When extending an offer of employment, the University of Southern California considers factors such as (but not limited to) the scope and responsibilities of the position, the candidate's work experience, education/training, key skills, internal peer equity, federal, state, and local laws, contractual stipulations, grant funding, as well as external market and organizational considerations.
Position is 100% FTE

About the USC Schaeffer Center
Since its establishment in 2009, the USC Schaeffer Center for Health Policy and Economics has served as an intellectual hub for health policy and health economics research at USC. A collaboration of the USC School of Pharmacy and the Sol Price School of Public Policy, the Schaeffer Center's mission is to measurably improve value in health through evidence-based policy solutions, research excellence, and private and public sector engagement. Knowledge of relevant software and databases to support constituent-relationship management, marketing and communications, and social media efforts. Excellent interpersonal skills. Preferred Education: Bachelor's degree
Preferred Skills: Experience with university events. Understanding of Los Angeles event market. In-depth experience with budget development and implementation. Familiarity with strategic planning and implementing department goals through event management. Knowledge of one or more foreign languages (e.g., Spanish).
