Events Manager
Job Summary:
The Program OperationsEvents Manager serves as a leader within the department by driving, planning, and executing exceptional programs and events with cross functional partners while supporting the overall team. A large focus of this role will be planning and executing upscale events geared toward VIP audiences and high-level donors. Reporting to the Director of Program Operations, this position holds a high degree of autonomy regarding day-to-day operations and individual project and task execution, with support from their manager to improve and deliver on larger scheme projects that affect high-level goals of the organization.

Duties/Responsibilities:
- Manage and serve as the point of contact for a large/complex portfolio of programs and related projects with minimal supervision.
- Plan and execute experimental programs or projects that deliver on our stakeholders’ goals and develop recommendations for similar projects going forward.
- Seamlessly balance the planning and execution of multiple programs and upscale events geared toward a variety of VIPs, donors, and similar high-level audiences.
- Manage Asana timelines to review projects holistically, assign tasks to team members, and update task trees and project timelines as needed.
- Execute sound and strategic decision-making by proposing solutions to the immediate supervisor for timely input regarding anticipated potential problems.
- Lead stakeholder meetings, identify next steps and actionable goals within programming processes, and ensure relevant tasks and operatives are added, appropriately delegated, and completed by holding team members accountable.
- Maintain timely, professional, and thorough written and verbal communication to internal and external stakeholders to ensure excellent customer service.
- Serve as a mentor and resource for junior team members by assisting with their training and providing regular feedback and opportunities for learning.
- When needed, serve as the point of contact for another internal team; communicate updates and challenges from the department to the appropriate stakeholder(s).
- Manage, build, and implement process improvements through experience and institutional knowledge to help improve efficiency and effectiveness.
- 20-25% travel required for this role:
- Staff online and in-person programs:10 per year - subject to change based on projected programs laid out in the IHS strategic plan.
Required Skills/Qualifications:
- 4+ years of relevant experience.
- High degree of professionalism with strong verbal and written communication skills, and a demonstrated ability to work well with high-level donors and VIPs.
- Excellent detail-orientation and organizational skills to meet clearly set goals and project timelines.
- Exceptional interpersonal skills and a passion for teamwork and cross-collaboration across the organization, matched by demonstrated success working independently and driving individual timelines and projects.
- Strong desire and ability to coach and develop team members.
- Highly entrepreneurial attitude with a proven track record of effectively driving project management, and planning and implementing process improvements.
- Strong sense of flexibility and the ability to adapt to changing circumstances.
- Capability to drive a technology-savvy and data-driven approach, with experience setting and tracking key performance metrics within a CRM system. Thorough understanding of download information/planning and team feedback
- Salesforce experience preferred.
- Familiarity with an academic environment, and the expectations and values of an academic audience.
- A strong appreciation for classical liberal principles (individual rights, free markets, limited government, voluntarism, and peace).
- The ability to lift 20 lbs. or more.
