Estimator - Residential Construction

Local to West Michigan, Custom Home Builder is looking for a Sr. Construction Estimator to join their growing team to create accurate and timely estimates for new home builds and remodels as well as occasional condos, townhomes, and commercial projects.

The ideal candidate will be experienced, have a servant attitude, always willing to help when and where needed, and is team oriented. The Estimator works closely with the team, clients, and subcontractors to obtain detailed information for material selection and costs.

Sr. Estimator Position Expectations:

• Build accurate and timely estimates for new construction, remodeling projects, and occasional commercial projects
• Develop accurate and complete material specifications
• Communicate effectively and promptly with clients, suppliers, and coworkers
• Work with clients, architects, and designers to obtain selections and specifications.
• Ensure estimating software is maintained with accurate data
• Attend and be an active participant in team meetings and trainings
• Take ownership for continuous improvement in client experience, quality, and profits.
• Proactively work to improve cost structure to deliver the best value for our clients
• Ability to prioritize tasks and manage time to meet deadlines
• Ability to negotiate favorable pricing and terms
• Effectively lead others

Sr. Estimator Requirements:

• 5+ years’ experience in Residential Construction and estimating
• Knowledgeable in most aspects of construction, including excavation, framing, plumbing, electrical, and HVAC
• Ability to read and understand construction drawings and prepare material lists
• Ability to work through complex scenarios pertaining to structural components, building envelopes, and other details unique to high-end construction
• Positive attitude always, in spite of circumstances
• Excellent problem-solving skills
• Ability to resolve conflicts with win-win outcomes
• Effective verbal and written communication
• Desire for continually improving skills and processes
• Efficiently use Microsoft Outlook, Excel, and Word
