Performs a wide variety of clerical duties, effectively and professionally communicates with visitors, patients, and employee. Registers patients in a pleasant, professional and timely manner, being sensitive to guest services. Conducts patient and or guarantor interviews, explains hospital policies, financial responsibilities and patient rights. Obtains all appropriate signatures for HIPAA, Condition of Admission and other necessary paperwork. Handles all routine patient inquiries related to the registration process. Obtains all necessary demographics and financial data and documents into the ADT system. Identifies and assigns appropriate payer source and Financial Class for routing of revenue generated during the patient stay. Complies with various government and non-government regulations and guidelines including EMTALA. Prepares reports and submits to Supervisor as needed or required. Provides feedback to Registration, Insurance Verification, Case managers, Medical Record Department and all other applicable departments in a positive, timely manner. Runs Claims Trust on all OP Medicare patients that present to the OP area to determine it passes Medical Necessity and if not issues an ABN and obtain signatures from patient. Ensures that any pre-certification and/or authorization are obtained to meet individual payer payment authorization protocols. Collects deposits of co-pays and deductibles to reduce bad debt expense. Request deposits on all patients not 100% covered by insurance. Documents all efforts in accounts. Schedule days and hours of work may vary depending on the needs of the department. May require night, weekend and evening shifts to cover the needs of the department.
Bilingual Spanish Speaking is preferred.
