SUMMARY
Under the direction of the Chief Deputy Director, the Equity Officer is responsible for strengthening the departments culture, creating a safe and inclusive working environment for staff, as well as spearheading policy development to advance equity department-wide in accordance with applicable State and Federal laws and regulations.

Working Conditions
This position is designated a s telework eligible-office centered.
If the employee is working at an alternate work location during telework, they are required to maintain a safe working condition at the approved site, abide by the Departments Telework Policy and Ergonomic Policy, and agree to maintain a distraction-free remote work environment. Further, employees are required to be available through various forms of communication during work hours.

Desirable Qualifications In addition to evaluating each candidate's relative ability, as demonstrated by quality and breadth of experience, the following factors will provide the basis for competitively evaluating each candidate:
  • An advanced degree in a relevant field such as public policy, social sciences, or a related discipline.
  • Experience conducting research and using data-driven approaches to inform program evaluations.
  • Experience developing a new program independently.
  • Experience collaborating with diverse stakeholders, including government officials, community organizations, and advocacy groups.
  • Experience reviewing program practices to determine how they impact communities.
  • In-depth knowledge of equity frameworks, social justice principles, and diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) strategies.
  • Familiarity with relevant legislation and policies related to equity and social justice.
  • 3+ years of experience working on diversity, equity, and inclusions projects.
