The Environmental Protection Division (EPD) is seeking a highly qualified individual to fill the position of Envirnomental Programs Administratorwith the Compliance & Waste Management Section. The ideal candidate will be able to use their technical expertise, managerial experience, and leadership skills in administration of a team of approximately 26 environmental professionals. This position is responsible for developing the performance goals and will provide leadership and oversight to the following Programs: Pollution Prevention and Control, NPDES, Solid Waste Management Permitting, and the Compliance Support & Strategic Engagement.
Work is performed under the general supervision of the Division Manager.
Representative Duties
- Monitors, analyzes and facilitates all facets of operations and activities related to the Environmental Programs or Teams supervised.
- Represents the Division while interacting with local, state, and federal regulatory agencies, public action groups, and County administration.
- May serve as Division Manager in the absence of the Manager and Assistant Manager.
- Ensures the highest level of service is provided to the County and its citizens. Responds to and resolves internal and external concerns / complaints.
- Directs and participates in studies, surveys and specialized research for environmental matters.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
Graduation with a Bachelor's Degree and seven years of environmental protection experience, to include three years in a supervisory role, and experience in public speaking/negotiating/mediating; Or an equivalent combination of relevant education or experience on a year for year basis.
Preferences
- Thorough understanding of federal, state, and local environmental regulations to include Hazardous Waste Management
- Knowledge of the Small Quantity Generators of hazardous waste verification program, Solid Waste Permitting, and Stormwater/National Pollutant Discharge Elimination System (NPDES).
- Master's degree in public health administration, Licensed Professional Engineer, Project Management Professional Certification, Certified Hazardous Materials Management.
- Emergency Response/Disaster Response training in Community or State Emergency Response Team (SERT/CERT) , FEMA Certifications, Safety Certifications/Trainer.
- Bilingual: Spanish/English
