The Department of Environmental Quality is seeking an Environmental Engineer to work for the Division of Water Quality. This position will maintain technical expertise in all aspects of wastewater treatment systems analysis, design, and permit delivery. This position may be filled at any of the advertised levels listed below. Salary depends on the job level offered within the series.
Principle Duties
As an Environmental Engineer you will typically:
- Prepare technical reports for and present projects to the Water Quality Board.
- Review engineering calculations, plans and technical specifications for Wastewater infrastructure projects.
- Participate as a team member or team leader on Special Projects and Division initiatives.
- Communicate effectively both in writing and verbally to internal and external customers, stakeholders and the public.
The Ideal person for this position will possess:
- Some experience of engineering practice with increasing degrees of responsibility involving wastewater process technology analysis, design and specification.
- A Bachelor of Science or Engineering in Civil, Sanitary, Chemical, Environmental or related disciplines.
- A Professional Engineer/Register Engineer license in Civil, Sanitary, Chemical, Environmental or related disciplines.
- A strong knowledge of physicochemical and biological wastewater treatment process fundamentals and resource recovery principles.
- Direct experience developing or implementing wastewater treatability analysis, developing process models, analyzing process alternatives and working with designers to prepare engineering plans and specifications for treatment work and sewerage systems.
- A strong project management skills and an ability to mange multiple projects.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Preference
Preference may be given to those with a Master of Science or Engineering with emphasis in wastewater treatment process design.
