Engine Performance Technical Specialist – Gasoline Powertrain Systems
Job Summary: Join our forward-thinking team as an Engine Performance Technical Specialist and contribute to cutting-edge Gasoline Powertrain Systems. Lead the development and optimization of internal combustion engines, focusing on performance, efficiency, and compliance with emission regulations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead the design and execution of comprehensive test plans, including engine and chassis dynamometer testing, to evaluate performance, fuel efficiency, and emissions of advanced engine technologies.
- Provide expert guidance in a collaborative team setting, ensuring technical milestones are met with precision.
- Innovate in engine testing methodologies, leveraging the latest instrumentation techniques for accurate data collection.
- Master the calibration and verification of engine control units (ECUs) to achieve program goals.
- Analyze engine data meticulously, steering project direction, and maintaining rigorous project timelines.
- Generate in-depth technical reports and presentations for stakeholders, encapsulating project progress and technical insights.
- Educate and mentor peers to elevate collective technical acumen within the organization.
- Engage actively with clients, contributing to technical discussions and proposal development for new projects.
- Collaborate intimately with design and simulation teams, offering insights to refine Engine Performance specifications.
- Guide control systems engineers in developing innovative algorithms for engine control software.
- Synthesize and present conclusive project findings, detailing implications of the data.
- Advance testing protocols and procedures, contributing to the field's best practices.
- Contribute to scholarly articles and participate in knowledge dissemination within the industry.
- Uphold and advocate for the highest standards in accordance with FEV's ISO and Internal Quality policies.
Essential Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical/Automotive Engineering, Electrical/Electronics Engineering, or a related technical field.
- Over a decade of expertise in engine calibration and powertrain development.
- Proficient in thermodynamics, fluid mechanics, and the fundamentals of internal combustion engine technology.
- In-depth knowledge of spark-ignited (SI) combustion processes and control system strategies.
- Proficient with calibration tools like ETAS INCA, ATI Vision, and Matlab/Simulink.
- Proven leadership in technical projects and mentorship.
Communication and Interpersonal Skills:
- Exceptional written and verbal communication in English.
- A proactive and collaborative approach to teamwork in a dynamic environment.
Preferred Expertise:
- Familiarity with Bosch or GPEC controller strategies.
- Experience with aftertreatment system calibration and hybrid Powertrain Systems.
- Comprehensive knowledge of US emission and OBD regulations.
- Hands-on experience with engine hardware, assembly, or rebuilding is an asset.
- US citizenship or Permanent Residency is advantageous.
