Job Title: Engagement Director

Location: Remote

Reports to: VP, Client Engagement

Terms: Fulltime
COEUS is currently recruiting an Engagement Director to lead client engagements and help build our growing market access consulting practice. The position reports to the Vice President of Client Engagement.


This role will play a leadership role in the Client Engagement group, overseeing and mentoring consultants, facilitating project teamwork, leading client interactions, developing presentations and owning key facets of the assigned client business. They carry out the client's vision and ensure proper alignment of resources to deliver against it, leading COEUS’ engagement teams to deliver exceptional work and client satisfaction. The ideal candidate has 8+ years in market access consulting, at least 2 of which are in management roles, and a master’s degree in business administration or public health or a PhD in a biologic science.

Location for this role is remote, however travel to client locations is required, approximately 10% of time.

Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Building and leading all aspects of project work streams
  • Leading assigned account by cultivating and supporting enduring relationship; driving strategic planning initiatives, providing recommendations, intaking client project requests, and coordinating with internal stakeholders
  • Developing and expanding productive client relationships, including identifying and pursuing opportunities to build COEUS’ overall business within assigned accounts
  • Serving as assigned accounts primary point of contact for strategy, new activities, team dynamics, quality control, and issue resolution
  • Contributing subject matter expertise in market access and reimbursement directly to assure delivery excellence
  • Providing end-to-end support for account management, including contracts, pricing, scope, and quality control
  • Collaborating with delivery/project management to set and manage client expectations and drive productivity
  • Proactively collaborating across practices and functions within COEUS to identify, develop and deliver solutions to clients’ needs
  • Providing project teams with clear direction required to meet clients’ business goals
  • Directing primary research with stakeholders and data analysis conducted by COEUS market insights team
  • Owning development of proposals for business opportunities at assigned accounts and others as directed by management, including collaborating with internal Industry Experts and cross-functional teams to craft winning pitches
  • Personally creating work product and overseeing development of work product by project team members that actionably informs clients’ strategic decisions, and exceeds clients’ expectations
  • Contributing to practice development through thought leadership, recruiting and mentoring junior staff

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree from a four-year college
  • Master’s degree in business administration or public health or a PhD in a biologic science highly preferred
  • Minimum of eight years’ experience in market access consulting, at least two of which have been in management roles
  • High degree of proficiency in Microsoft Office

Required Skills/Abilities

  • Demonstrated experience and understanding of:
    • US pre-launch commercial planning for market access (opportunity identification, landscape assessment, evidence strategies) for multiple rare disease/oncology assets
    • Market access planning for launch and in-line specialty brands (value prop, stakeholder engagement)
    • Pricing & contracting strategy development and execution for retail and specialty products
    • Payer, IDN and channel strategy development & execution
    • Regulations and logistics of government pricing programs
  • Superior analytical skills combined with demonstrated expertise in strategy consulting in the life sciences industry
  • Exceptional teamwork and collaboration skills in virtual working environments, from individual contributor to team lead
  • Proven ability to motivate and coach people in multiple dimensions including analytical skills, project management, client relationship management, and interpersonal skills
  • Strong project management skills including work planning, presentation development, quality control, and client management
  • Excellent communication skills both oral and written and the ability to influence others
  • Conceptual and a quick learner, able to quickly assess a situation and generate new insights and actionable ideas
  • Demonstrated ability to coordinate large cross functional workstreams
