Organizational Summary

Maternity Care Coalition (MCC) is a community-based nonprofit organization serving Pennsylvania and Delaware with over four decades of commitment to improving maternal and child health and early care and education. MCC’s mission is to improve the health and well-being of pregnant women and parenting families and enhance school readiness for children 0—3. Position Summary

The Director of Community Engagement and Partnerships is responsible for the operational functions of the Community Engagement Services (CES) Department and developing strategies to advance MCC’s work in Pennsylvania (8 counties) and Delaware (3 counties). The Director leads the CES Program Manager(s), the CES Program Coordinator(s), and CES Lead Advocate(s) to ensure all department activities support agency, program, and funder deliverables.

Essential Functions

Administration:

  • Adheres to MCC’s Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) and CES’s Policies and Procedures
  • Reviews and updates CES’ Policies & Procedures to strengthen inclusive service delivery, support agency outcomes, and department initiatives
  • Facilitates meetings with CES Leaders to discuss department strategies, staff and community trends, and department deliverables
  • Monitors agency referrals and outreach efforts to support enrollment for MCC programs and services
  • Conducts data review and analysis to ensure compliance with program deliverables
  • Leads MCC’s economic security (emergency fund) and child literacy (book club) initiatives
  • Creates quality improvement plans to strengthen deliverables out of compliance
  • Identifies individual, agency, or system issues impeding services to families and/or productive teamwork and provide recommendations for problem resolution
  • Creates strategic outreach plans to advance MCC’s work in its service areas
  • Facilitates the execution of outreach plans

  • Completes reports as required (Agency, Funder, Sr. Director)
  • Participates in regular supervision/meetings with the Sr. Director
  • Leads staff recruitment, onboarding efforts, and department trainings
  • Represents MCC at meetings with community partners and funders as requested
  • Maintains a positive cooperative relationship with all internal and external stakeholders

Leadership

  • Conducts regular reflective supervision sessions with the CES Program Manager(s), Coordinator(s) and Team Lead(s). Supervision sessions are expected to occur regularly in accordance with department standards
  • Maintains clear and accurate records of all supervisory sessions
  • Reviews data (referrals and outcomes, community outreach activities, resource navigation, emergency funding, and literacy project benchmarks, etc.) to ensure MCC is meeting deliverables
  • Completes staff performance evaluations

Other Tasks•

  • Strengthens own and staff’s skills through professional development opportunities
  • Routinely uses MCC databases and computer systems including ETO, Internet, Sharepoint, and Microsoft Office Suite
  • Adheres to MCC’s security guidelines and ensures the appropriate handling of client and staff sensitive information
  • Facilitates and attends department meetings to promote communication and execution of goals
  • Maintains strategic relationships with medical and community partners
  • May be assigned a team in the absence of a Program Manager/Lead Advocate
  • Other duties as assigned within the scope of position expectations
    • Supports the professional development of staff through coaching and counsel
    • Completes supervision observations twice a year, per supervisee
    • Identifies staff training needs and creates annual department training plans

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Understanding of MCC’s mission, goals, Theory of Change and DEIJ objectives
  • Ability to work independently with a high level of energy and contribute as part of a larger team.
  • Knowledge of the concepts and practices associated with community health issues, particularly with pregnant people, prenatal care, parenting and other services for parents/caregivers, young children, and their families
  • Knowledge of and sensitivity to issues facing the community served
  • Demonstrated strong administrative and clinical skills
  • Strong interpersonal skills as demonstrated by courteous, cordial, cooperative, and professional interaction with diverse groups of co-workers, community partners, clients, and community members
  • Ability to travel within MCC’s service area to attend meetings and conduct community outreach

  • Ability to organize, follow-up, and follow-through on tasks in an efficient manner with a strong attention to detail
  • Ability to organize, problem-solve, and work as part of a team
  • Ability to complete work remotely as well as in the office (hybrid work model)

Experience, Education, and Licensure

  • Bachelor’s degree in Social Work, Human Services, Education, Psychology, Public Health or related field required; Master’s Degree preferred
  • Must have 3-5 years of supervisory experience and relationship management
  • Experience with program development and implementation
  • Experience working with pregnant people, children, and families preferred
  • Strong public speaking, presentation, and written communication skills required
  • Must have a valid driver’s license and driving experience
