Position Summary
DESCRIPTION:
The Director of The Urban Collaborative is responsible for advancing the Center for Community Engagement’s key mission element of providing students with experiential learning opportunities that benefit our community. Using a project-based learning model, the Director will work with the CCE Dean and staff, College faculty and students, and appropriate community partners to convene and support collective efforts that improve the quality of life in York’s neighborhoods, especially surrounding the availability of safe and affordable housing.
OUTCOME:
Development of a comprehensive and inclusive program that engages York College students and faculty in project-based learning activities and courses, with a focus on assessing and offering solutions to community challenges related to equitable housing and healthy neighborhoods.
Essential Functions
Develops, supports, and oversees project-based learning opportunities, co-ops, and other experiential learning opportunities for York College students and faculty that support the work of TheUrban Collaborative (35%)As appropriate, teaches project-based learning courses related to the work of TheUrban Collaborative (15%)Collaborates with the CCE Dean, the Director of the Arthur J. Glatfelter Institute for Public Policy, and appropriate College staff/faculty to implement a coordinated protocol for collection of qualitative and quantitative research on exigent community needs and possible grant applications (20%); Coordinates and implements workshops on community problem-solving, grants acquisition, and other related pathways to addressing and resourcing needs (10%); Oversees content for Urban Collaborative webpage (5%)Delivers periodic public and internal (oral and written) workshops and reports on community needs and acts as a spokesperson for the mission of TheUrban Collaborative (10%); Other duties as assigned by the CCE Dean of Programming (5%) Experience and Education Required
Master’s degree in a relevant field2+ years of experience with project-based learning within community and/or educational settings2+ years experience with the development of grant proposals2 + years experience and expertise in higher education and project-based learning;Required Skills and Qualifications
Ability to relate to both community and academic stakeholders; Ability to organize and prioritize multiple assignments; Ability to organize and analyze quantitative and qualitative data; Excellent interpersonal and active listening skillsExperience working with underserved populations; Strong oral and written communication skills; Willingness to work night and weekend hours as needed.
