Job Description:
This role will help build and support quantitative analytics for the power trading team. The position requires technical expertise in Python and SQL and will be focused on automating tools, supporting fundamental gas and power models, and developing quantitative analytics for the power trading team.
Responsibilities
- Responsible for maintaining and developing tools for data validation, quantitative analysis and trading analytics
- Build processes to automate data collection from vendors and public sources and populate internal databases
- Work with senior analysts to build and maintain fundamental gas and power models that inform trading strategy
- Support implementation of big data and machine-learning techniques into the trading decision making process
- Act as a liaison between the power desk and the IT team to ensure efforts are efficient and streamlined
- Proactively seek out quantitative solutions to improve workflow efficiency of analysts and traders
- Provide ad hoc analysis as directed
Requirements & Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in a field such as Mathematics, Statistics, Economics, Finance, Computer Science, Physics, or Engineering; Advanced degree preferred
- 0-5 years professional experience; financial and/or commodity markets experience preferred
- Experience in gas and/or power markets preferred
- Excellent programming skills in Python and SQL; experience with Tableau preferred
- Experience creating customizable tools that support trading strategy
- Interest in researching, evaluating and utilizing new technologies/tools/frameworks in the Big Data arena
- Strong communication skills with the ability to interact with all levels of the business
- Ability to work independently with high attention to detail in a fast paced environment
