Position Description
· Coordinate ethical exploration, learning, and growth at First Unitarian Society of Minneapolis as we engage with the world. Collaborate with ministers, staff, Ethical Exploration (E², “E-squared”) Committee, guest educators, and volunteers.
· Put First Unitarian in a position to become the national leader in Humanist education and curriculum development by provide educational materials to interested Humanist and other freethought groups.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
· Keep the message that First Unitarian is a learning-centered congregation front and center.
· Facilitate the creation of age-appropriate learning, including curriculum selection and development, in collaboration with the E² Committee.
· Hone and implement the development of constructivist E² curriculum.
· Plan and oversee the Our Whole Lives (OWL) human sexuality education program.
· Coordinate education and volunteer programs for all members and friends, 0-100+.
· Make programming accessible to all learning styles and abilities, with an eye toward multicultural education, in our building and online.
· Develop processes for welcoming and integrating new families into our community, in collaboration with the Membership Director and committee,.
· Plan multigenerational Assembly opportunities, in collaboration with staff and volunteers.
· Plan and oversee rites of passage for members and friends.
· Hire and supervise nursery staff.
· Recruit, train, and support E² volunteers.
· Maintain the E² budget in collaboration with the Senior Minister and Finance Director.
· Communicate E² goals, activities and concerns to the congregation through appropriate media in a timely manner.
· Maintain registration and attendance records, and other necessary administrative documents.
· Attend to professional development, using resources from the Twin Cities community, the Liberal Religious Educators Association (LREDA), and other appropriate organizations.
· Other duties as assigned by the Senior Minister.

Education and Experience
· Master’s degree or equivalent combination of education and experience, preferably in a field related to constructivist education, child development, and lifelong education.
· Experience in constructivist education, child development, and lifelong education.
· Deep commitment to Humanist and freethought education.
· Willingness to engage in continuing education.
· Experience with managing volunteers.
· Experience working with budgets.
