Do My Own, a subsidiary of Central Garden & Pet, the home of DIY home pest control, lawn care, gardening and animal care products and supplies, has an opening for an eCommerce Retail Buyer. This is an Exempt, remote, full-time position. This position begins pay at $90,000 annually depending upon experience.
A successful eCommerce Retail Buyer will help drive continued focus on the customer through data driven decision-making and relationships with internal and external stakeholders including marketing, operations, customer service, finance, suppliers, and third-party vendors. This includes creating and maintaining vendor relationships, marketing products, developing product line strategies and reporting financial results. The eCommerce Retail Buyer assists with making buying decisions for the assigned category and negotiates terms with suppliers to drive item selection and pricing.
Responsibilities:
- Strategy and Planning: Identify opportunities, support sales growth with analytics, develop/execute business plans, and understand financial implications of strategies.
- Retail Costing, Pricing, and Promotion: Administer supplier cost program, retail pricing, and promotional pricing activity. Utilize these core components of retail sales to drive revenue while maximizing profit across different channels of business.
- Partner Management: Influences the supplier management strategy to support overall Business Unit strategy and works to improve all aspects of supplier relationships. Executes business reviews on a regular basis with key partners.
- Category Management: Provide recommendations on merchandising and assortment to influence customers and leverage category strategies to drive business performance for our categories. Data analysis and knowledge of industry trends should drive these decisions.
- Consumer Experience: Employ strategies that positively impact the consumer experience. The foundation of effective retail is the consumer experience.
- People Management: Lead, inspire, develop, and motivate people, learn to effectively give and receive feedback.
- Take on any other responsibilities and tasks as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Strong analytical skills and comfortable making data-driven decisions.
- Detail-oriented, results-driven self-starter who can thrive in a fast-paced ecommerce environment.
- Creative problem solver who can manage and prioritize multiple projects and priorities.
- Ability to work independently, within a team, across internal departments and with third party vendors to drive results.
- Experience in ecommerce, retail, consumer product goods, or consulting preferred.
- Proficiency with Excel, PowerPoint, and reporting / BI platforms such as Tableau, DOMO, Google Analytics, or similar systems.
- Excellent communicator with strong verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
