SUMMARY OF DUTIES::
Perform repairs to movable bridges. Perform work in adverse weather conditions. May be assigned to work night shift and/or weekend shift. Must be able to work various shifts. This position performs maintenance and inspection primarily on movable bridges and other duties as assigned.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Tasks include but are not limited to:
- Laying and fitting metal parts of moveable bridges with or without drawings.
- Manual machine sizing, boring, turning, threading, milling, and measuring.
- Dismantling, repairing, and rebuilding gearboxes of multiple types.
- Reading and analyzing prints.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- Must have a High School Diploma or GED Equivalent.
- Must read, write, and speak the English language clearly.
- Apprenticeship as a machinist.
- Three (3) years' experience as a machinist in machine shop.
- Must read and write the English language.
- Must have valid driver’s license at time of hire.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Experience in bridge construction.
- Vocational/technical training in mechanical field.
COMMUNICATIONS AND INTERPERSONAL SKILLS:
Must have excellent oral and written communication skills.
The hourly rate is $27.64 - $36.85 (with opportunity for increases, as per the applicable collective bargaining agreement, after beginning employment).
