Who We Are

The International Union of Operating Engineers, Local Union No. 12 was consummated by an executive order of the General President of the International Union of Operating Engineers and approved by the General Executive Board on March 1, 1939.

Throughout the 80 years, the Officers of Local 12 have worked hard to see that the members receive a fair wage, overtime, paid holidays, subsistence pay, health and welfare, burial fund, vacation, pension and annuity benefits.

Local 12 leads the way to the next generation of skilled construction professionals. We have established training sites in six different locations throughout Southern California and Southern Nevada to train apprentices and retrain journeypersons. Each training site is equipped with various updated equipment with highly qualified instructors.

Our purpose is to provide our well-established contractors with highly qualified members willing to work hard.

Role Description
Dispatcher role required carrying out all dispatch and clerical functions for branch administration and the membership of Local 12.
Job Requirements
Administrative Tasks

• Processing and filling work orders from contractors in compliance with Local 12’s guidelines
• Type dispatches, weekly and monthly reports, memos, grievances, meeting minutes for various monthly meetings, out of work list etc.
• Answer incoming calls
• Update membership information
• Balance cash and checks for membership dues daily
• Prepare bank deposits and submit banking daily
• Distribute and balance petty cash

Member Relations

• Process new member applications, reinstatements and all other transactions
• Provide courteous and professional Customer Service to members
• Dispatch members to job sites, in accordance to their experience with appropriate equipment

Additional Responsibilities

• File documents as needed
• Assist with training new Dispatchers as necessary
• Provide clerical duties for District Representatives and Business Representatives
• Travel to other branches filling in for dispatchers as required
• Order office supplies and pick up at store with use of petty cash when necessary
• Perform additional duties and responsibilities, as required

Qualifications
Education/Experience

• High School Diploma
• 2-4 years of experience in call center and customer service environment
• Experience in handling a multitude of inbound/outbound phone calls
• Cross functional team member

Technical expertise

• Proficiency in MS Excel, Word, typewriter and calculator
• Type minimum 40 words per minute

Specific Professional Skills

• Excellent judgment and creative problem-solving skills, including conflict-resolution skills
• Experience working effectively in a complex, multifaceted environment
• Organizational skills in setting priorities to complete a heavy workload within established time frames and deadlines
• Keep and organized and professional workstation

Additional Requirements

• Must be flexible and available to attend meetings, conduct daily bank deposits, and relieve other branches, as required

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $30.00 - $38.00 per hour
