We are currently providing an opportunity for a well-rounded, detail oriented and focused professional to join our team in the position of Dispatcher. A Dispatcher is the main line of communication between Alaska Airlines Operations Center and the IDS Operations team. Dispatchers are responsible for receiving incoming calls from flight crews and assigning our deice teams or the aircraft to the appropriate location at our Seattle/Tacoma (SEA) International Airport.

Why this role is important for our work:
Winter weather can adversely affect the performance of aircraft, making flight unsafe for passengers and flight crews. Our job is to remove winter contaminants from aircraft prior to flight, getting everyone on board to their destination safely and on time. In order to provide this service to our customers, we need a set of skilled Dispatchers to ensure that communication and operational performance runs efficiently. This position is an integral part of our commitment to safety and performance at IDS.
What you will be responsible for:
- Learn and understand the airports abilities and restrictions regarding Deicing.
- Learn and understand customer specific requirements.
- Coordinate and communicate logical locations for Deice.
- Communicate with Flight crews via VHF Radio headset.
- Communicate with IDS team via radio base station.
- Communicate current Operational events to IDS Leadership, and customer Managers accurately.
What we are looking for:
- HS Diploma or completion of GED and professional experience.
- Must be 18 years or older
- Valid US driver's license
- Must be legally authorized to work in country of employment without requiring sponsorship for employment visa status, now or in the future.
- 1 year of previous experience performing high-volume dispatching functions required; 3 years preferred.
- Can operate multiple computers and systems simultaneously
- High functioning during stressful situations
- Ability to keep the big picture in focus while moving pieces
- Concise Communication & Strong Organization Skills
- Ongoing Strategic thinking & Flexibility in the coordination of the operation
- Reliable Recall & Punctuality
- Ability to work in an environment that can be loud and high stress
Preferred Qualifications:
- Previous airline experience
Work Environment:
- Work will be done in an open concept office area
- Work space is among other work areas in an airline’s operation center
