About the Position
Edgewise Therapeutics, based in Boulder, Colorado, is actively recruiting for a Senior/Executive Director of Business Development who has a proven track record of success in the biotech/biopharma industry. The candidate, along with Edgewise’s executive management team and board of directors, will lead and oversee Business Development priorities.
The Director/Senior Director/Executive Director, Business Development will report to the CBO. The successful candidate must be scientifically well versed and will have a track record of developing and closing both R&D and clinical collaborations with large and mid-sized biopharmaceutical companies. This role includes but is not limited to proactive outreach to strategic partners, licensing and/or M&A activities, coordinating due diligence of licensing opportunities, product/market financial modeling and preparing in- and out-licensing packages.
This is a critical role for Edgewise. The candidate is expected to be both strategic and tactical and the role entails responsibilities that span strategic planning, commercial, content development and communication, and analysis and insights.

Principal Responsibilities
- Support the company’s Business Development efforts by identifying, assessing, and executing complex, creative deals with a variety of potential partners including pharmaceutical and biotech companies.
- Establish and maintain a tiered list of partners through diligent tracking of historic/future interactions.
- Maintain an updated diligence room to support staged due diligence processes.
- Lead priority deals at a pace that enables quick decision making; instinct to “read the deal”.
- Structure deals and prepare negotiation positions with prospective partners; ability to take deals to close by working closely with legal and finance partners.
- Lead/coordinate diligence activities and knowing when to delegate to technical experts as appropriate.
- Seamlessly navigate deals through Edgewise’s governance and decision-making process.
- Establish and strengthen the relationship with potential external parties throughout the deal process.
- Required Competencies/Skills
- Strong understanding of biopharma deal structures.
- Ability to cultivate and maintain positive and collaborative relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
- The ability to influence deals in a tactful and well-thought-out manner with supporting information and logic.
- Courage to voice “out-of-the-box” thinking where appropriate.
- Given the unpredictable nature of drug development, the individual must be comfortable with a significant degree of ambiguity and improvise seamlessly.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills (written and verbal); ability to translate and simplify complex information/data and explain scientific and clinical developments through effective strategic storytelling.
- Ability to prioritize multiple tasks on very tight deadlines and have a “roll up your sleeves” attitude.
- Outstanding organizational skills and attention to detail; cares not just about the end result but also the way in which the results are delivered.
- Unquestionable ethics and integrity.
- Computer skills are a must (particularly PowerPoint and Excel).
Education and Experience
- 7+ years of experience working in a business/corporate strategy function.
- PhD in a biomedical field and/or MD and/or MBA with a focus on healthcare required.
Salary range: $200,000 – $280,000, title and salary commensurate with experience
