This position supports the work of the Y, a leading nonprofit, charitable organization committed to strengthening the community through youth development, healthy living, and social responsibility. The Director of Senior Programs develops plans, organizes, and implements programing for the Colorado Springs Senior Center. The Director of Senior Programs oversees the management of programs, facilities, and staff development, and collaborations with the community partners in meeting program needs. Additional responsibilities include preparing and managing the annual budget for the assigned areas within approved budget guidelines and communicating positivity and effectively with all participants, volunteers, and staff, including timely responses to phone calls and request for information. The ideal candidate will have the ability to supervise, train, and support program staff. They must possess the ability to establish and maintain harmonious relationships with staff, volunteers, members, and the community.

- Develops, implements, directs, leads, and supervises program activities to meet Senior Center objectives. Establishes new program activities and presents ideas to fortify existing programs.
- Executes strategies to ensure that program participants connect with one another and connect with the Senior Center /YMCA.
- Attend and participate in regularly held staff meetings and trainings for the Senior Center and YMCA
- Recruits hires, trains, develops, supervises, schedules, and directs staff including instructors as needed. Reviews and evaluates staff & instructors' performance.
- Develops strategies to motivate staff and instructors to achieve goals. Ensures records of staff certifications are current and complete.
- Facilitates communication and provides leadership for employees responsible for.
- Ensures that program standards are met, and safety procedures are followed.
- Coordinates special events and activities like performances, day trips, annual Yoga Retreat, Silent Auction, Pageant and Christmas Dinner among others.
- Assists in the marketing and distribution of program information. This includes updates to the website, posts on the Senior Center Facebook page, and the creation of flyers and posters for selected programs and events.
- Develops and monitors program budgets to meet fiscal objectives.
- Provides data and reports as required for assigned programs.
- Responsible for overseeing program registration that includes providing information for the data entry team and designing and printing class schedules.
- Develops and maintains effective working relationships within the community.
- Responds to all patron inquiries and complaints in a timely manner.
- Has sufficient experience with Microsoft office programs including Publisher and PowerPoint. Have the ability to learn new software critical to our business and provide guidance for new staff members.
- Bachelor’s degree in gerontology, human services, social services, recreation or equivalent
- Three or more years of program management experience, preferably in a YMCA or other not-for-profit agency.
- Ability to direct programs through supervision of instructors and staff, development, and monitoring of budgets, marketing, and public relations, program development, and fund-raising.
- Prefer knowledge of and previous experience with diverse populations.
- Ability to establish and maintain collaborations with community organizations.
- YMCA Team Leader or Multi-team/Branch Leader certification preferred.
